I want to buy hubby a tablet for his birthday mid September. Is the ipad air the best tablet? He is not a heavy user will not be downloading lots of things maybe just some music. He mainly will be using for sports maybe watching some catch up on it. Horse racing and football stuff and general browsing.

I bought my daughter an iPad.
I bought myself a Samsung galaxy note 10.1 as I felt it had more compatability & less tied to apple.
I wish I had got myself an iPad.0 -

I'm looking at a similar choice.
Would you mind saying why you wished you'd got an iPad? It may help me to decide. Thanks.0 -
They are simply different and its much down to personal taste as anything else.
What mobile phone does he use? If its an iPhone and he likes it then get an iPad. If its an Android phone and he likes it get an Android based tablet.
Personally I am fully bought into the Apple ecosystem so its an easy choice for me as everything just integrates seamlessly with everything else. You can have more challenges getting Apple to play nicely with other software/ hardware from non-partners and those that like a mixed ecosystem tend to be the greatest naysayers about iPads etc because of the cross compatibility issues. Most are overcomeable but others argue why should you have to overcome things which just work on Android/ Windows0 -
Can apple products play flash files yet?
Go with android..........never feel restircted
Never sell your soul to a big brand!0 -

Can you even remember the last time you went to a decent website that exclusively used flash? Even Adobe is close to dropping it.
Loads of times
Ive been at a friends house and used his ipad before and the amount of times things dont work "cus apple dont allow flash" is quite funny
Everyone still uses it, its just people in the apple world dont want to believe it. Lots of movie clips etc won play on apple products
Why limit yourself for the sake of the brand...just go with something that everybody else uses and works with everything?0 -

You obv go to different sites to me then. Excluding advertising banners, which I dont mind losing, I can only think of a single site that I;ve been to in the last year that was based on flash.
Flash Player isnt installed on my work Dell laptop either and dont recall any problems with that either.
No matter what brand you go for you are limiting yourself because nothing works with everything. The question is which compromises you are willing to make. For me, Flash is something I dont use and am happy its disappearing0 -
Why do people always want 'the best', then go on to explain they won't actually be using it for anything strenuous anyway?
People are funny. I like my ipad. I like my son's nexus 7. I like that his cost 1/4 the price of the ipad. I am quite surprised my ipad is 3 years old and still going strong0 -

Its not the websites built in flash its that many websites use it, have movie clips on them etc etc
I just think why go for something that doesnt work with everything?
Why try and convince yourself that nobody else in the world uses flash anymore?
They do.....
And it wont work on apple
So why not just pick something that can work with everything?0
