Hi new to contactless cards and just been sent one by Lloyds. I've read about some of the problems people have had in the past with them, but definitely don't want one anyway as I'm quite happy with the Debit card I've had for years.
Can I refuse it and cut it up or is there a choice etc....?
Many thanks in advance

They come as standard now across the whole Lloyds Banking Group I'm afraid.0

What "problems"? Why is there such paranoia about contactless on these forums?0

Thanks for the quick reply !
What a pain, however as my existing Lloyds debit card expires in October 2016 can I continue using it till then ?
I've an account with HSBC as well is it going to be the same with them eventually....?0 -

Yeh, HSBC have began to introduce them as well, you're next replacement card is guaranteed to be contactless.
I've had contactless credit and debit cards for years, never had any issues at all. It's all a myth. If you have more than one in the same wallet, they cancel eachother out so no one can read them... Or if you're really paranoid, wrap the card in tinfoil :-)0 -
You can call them and opt out of contactless technology.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

Didn't know there was any paranoia as I rarely read or post on here. Mainly they can be "read" by someone standing close by, besides why change something that works well in the first place ?
Nothing changed!, just banks and building societies entering the 21st century!.. As like when chip and pin came in, everyone was moaning that people behind in the queue could easily see your pin.. We got over that quickly enough, didn't we?

Have you tried to contact Lloyds and ask for a "normal" card?
They sent me a contactless debit card when my previous one expired and did send me another card on request.
I was just asked why I did't want the contactless version.
That was back in April though.
I don't want one, end of.:)0 -
I've used Contactless payments a few times now. The first time you have to enter your PIN; and every so often you'll be required to enter said PIN.
In fact I prefer to pay that way... Just tap and hold the card against the machine till payment has been approved. Job done! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -
Never had an opportunity to use my contactless card and had it for months.0
