Engine Failure - Any Advice?
Comments
-
the engine of a sub three year old car with 16K has failed within three months of purchase so it is not of satisfactory quality and is not fit for purpose
That's a very bold statement - I'm pretty sure I could destroy such an engine in a day if I chose to and certainly wouldn't claim it was not 'fit for purpose ' in that case0 -

Quite easily if the conrod coming out the engine block caused the engine to seize.
It would usually cause the wheels to lock up and all of the strain from that skidding would be on the gearbox.
It happened with my friend years ago when the conrod inside his 1.1 Fiesta engine wanted to go exploring. All your base are belong to us.0 -

are you suggesting that the original poster has ragged the engine and caused the catastrophic failure ?
if the car has failed in normal use then i stand by my statement and would be making a claim under sale of good0 -

No but we've only got one side of a story and lots of people are making bold supportive statements of the OP (even to the point of giving details of the diagnosis and engine type)0 -

a total guess on my part based on no hard facts
taking things at face value from the information provided where do you think the OP stands0 -
I'm a firm believer in people being open minded and a balanced conversation so very rightly I believe, someone has said that only one side of a story has been told.
Obviously people have to take me at face value when I say I hadn't been ragging it, in actual fact, I hadn't really had the chance to even get used to it. It's the first automatic I've ever driven and there was a prelonged period of wet weather when I first got it, and not being used to the car, was very reluctant to give it a 'spirited' drive.
The service in question was before I bought it and before the seller I got it from had acquired it.
But as someone else has pointed out, the point of my post is not the warranty dispute, but my rights under SOGA and if anyone else has experience and what was their outcome.0 -

Even without OPs last post I'm still inclined to believe him and his side of the story however without knowing all details it's difficult to predict an outcome
IMHO speaking nicely to manufacturer and highlighting a known fault may get a contribution towards repair despite the questionable (in their opinion) service history
Any more than that would be a bonus and I personally don't think SOGA will cut it
I'll watch for the outcome with interest0 -

thanks:)
I'm happy to accept the very nature of Internet forums, anonymity and having to take things at face value. Always have, always will.
I've nothing to gain by asking advice based on half a story, I'm not trying to mud sling (hence not mentioning persons or companies) nor dupe anyone for financial gain, merely asking advice and others experiences based on the facts I'm providing.0
