Morning :hello:
The last of the borlotti beans have been picked, I need to throw the plants in the compost and tidy the canes away ready for next year. I was going to leave the weeds for the chickens but I'll have to clear that area, it's next to the fence and my neighbour is going to use strong weedkiller on his side (blimming bindweed!) and I don't want to chance the girls eating it.
I'll be shelling beans and chopping tomatoes today, there's a bit of room in the freezer so hopefully they'll fit inThe new girls are making a right mess of the patio, I'll move all the pots off and give it a scrub today. I started crocheting a bag yesterday, I'm not sure I like it but will finish it then decide.
I was doing my exercises yesterday and I felt and heard a big clunk (don't know how else to describe it, lol) in my hip, I froze for a few seconds and was too scared to move then slowly put my leg down. I have no idea what it was but I can move it a lot more now

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, sun shining. Load of washing finished in WM – needs to be put out on the line.
DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early. His birthday today so need to organise cake for later.
Dinner last night was chicken breasts in white wine and cream sauce, new potatoes, roasted peppers stuffed with vegetable rice/cous cous and side serving of peas – all eaten and enjoyed. Menu plan says HM fish and chips, but it’s likely DH won’t want that so he may prefer chippie fish and chips – I’ll let him decide.
Have woken this morning late for me, I’m sleeping like the dead at the moment – I’m never normally in bed before midnight and I’m finding I need to go to bed 10-10.30 ish and don’t wake up until late – this morning it was 7.35am – which is late for me. Hoping the sleep means my body is healing and repairing itself!
Refund cheque for the cancelled car insurance arrived yesterday – so that will be given to DS1 for him to take into the bank at the end of the week when he takes another cheque to pay in.
Yesterday had a bit of a panic, as realised DS2 goes back to school on Friday, and other than school shoes I hadn’t bought him new uniform – as was going to do it once we got home from hols as he didn’t need much. He maintained he hadn’t got any trousers that would fit so he wasn’t going back …….! So yesterday afternoon after a massive meltdown and tears from him, sent him upstairs to find what school trousers he had got …………….. and he miraculously found a clean and pressed pair of age 15/16 yrs trousers that I’d bought for DS1 that he then wore a handful of times – he tried them and they fit – so not such a panic. I’m hoping that we can get up and sorted this morning and we can go to MrT, if they have any trousers in his size left we’ll get some more if not it’ll wait, (there’s a really good old fashioned shop in town that stocks school uniform, and more expensive but really good quality and they do different waist and leg lengths, so can always get a better fit, but that will have to wait until I’m mobile again). I can then also get a birthday cake for DH and a bottle of wine to go with whatever dinner we end up with.
I need to get washed and dressed and get some breakfast, also need to get DS1 out of bed.
Take care x
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Hope Docky gets good advice and treatment at the vets. Hugs to all others who have poorly family, pets or themselves.
Sun struggling through here, bedding in WM to hang out before going off to yoga later.
Paprika chicken that makes enough for 6 for tea, nice to build in leftovers.
Might have bike ride along the prom later if weather ok, how I wish we could bank the sunshine and warmth for a cold and gloomy day.
Quiz tonight, winning prize is a lottery ticket, more for fun than anything.Carolbee0 -

Good morning everyone :hello:
I am currently singing along to Spandau Ballet on the radio and reliving my misspent youth. It's Heart radio's time tunnel and it's most definitely early 80's, my favourite era as it was my teenage years. I loved the fashion and the big hair and neon colour makeup.
My lovely DD11 has made me a cup of tea and I am going to have a relaxing day as yesterday was very difficult. I still have a headache and I had to go to bed at 8.30 last night but I did sleep through so I feel a bit better now. Even my DDs have said they have had enough of my friend R for a while so I am screening my calls for the next few days. I know she can't help it to some extent but it is so tiring having to sort out her problems as she lurches from crisis to crisis. I had to persuade her that buying a puppy from some travellers was probably not the best idea and so she sulked and stropped. She is 63 not some kid although you would never have known. I love her dearly but I need a break. My other friend C turned up whilst she was here and R was so jealous, she interrupted our conversation and physically stood in between us so we couldn't talk to each other! My poor friend was dumbfounded.
OS wise I am cleaning the kitchen, the floor is pretty grim and needs sweeping and mopping. I love the smell of bleach so I shall be sloshing it around. The girls can clean the bathroom and run the hoover round. Hopefully I will do some crafting later as well to de-stress. I am making some embellishments for my christmas cards and it involves glitter so I will be very happy.
Hope everyone manages to have a great day whatever they are up to. Take care xx0 -
dumpling - how awful for you and everybody else. It's such a shame when a 'friend in need' can disrupt everything else for other friends/family in that way.
for you and
to your 'friend in need'.
Would you perhaps be able to suggest that you could visit HER, in future - though you would have to let her know in advance that you only had 'x' amount of time. At least that way, you'd have your 'get-out clause' :undecided. Maybe get somebody to 'collect' you at a pre-arranged time for 'an appointment'.
I know you mentioned that your friend is 'still taking her medication', but maybe she needs to have it reviewed / maybe not taking it as advised / has some extra pressures that are affecting her mood or behaviour / possibly taking 'something else', while on her meds, that could be affecting how it works. It's amazing how even some 'quite innocuous over-the-counter stuff' can affect how prescribed medication works. Are you the only person that she has for support? It sounds as though she should perhaps be seeing a 'Community Psych Support Worker'
Best of luck to you both.0 -
Hi everyone,
I am fed up with feeling rubbish, I felt so well a week or so ago and I've gone totally downhill again! Sorry for the moan.
I need to sort out DD's bedroom today because she and BF are coming to stay for the weekend and I've been using her bed as a dumping ground. She is 31 and has lived away from home (mostly) since she was 21 but still has two double wardrobes, 6 deep shelves and three drawers of clothes here, not to mention 3 large Billy bookcases with books, cds, magazines and other bits on. On the other hand we have nothing of DS' here.
DH has been cycling to the station and then to work from King's Cross for the last couple of weeks on his new folding bike. He reckons the bike will have paid for itself by Christmas and then he'll save £1,000 a year on oyster fees. It also means he gets home a few minutes earlier as it saves on his 17 minute walk from the station (he is legendary among fellow commuters for always arriving at the last moment when the train is pulling in).
I'd better stop procrastinating and get on, have a good day.0 -
Need to measure the windows for curtains, I really don't like them and in the previous house we didn't have/need any at all. Now we're in the country with no street lights and nets are not enough for winter. I have no idea about anything to do with curtain measuring so the plan is to take photos of all the windows and measure everything, write it on the photos and give them to a curtain maker to figure it out.
It's not too difficult, if you have a pole take the length of that and measure from the top of the pole to where you want the bottom of the curtains to finish. If not then measure the opening of the window left to right and the drop from where you would put the pole to where you wish them to finish. The rough rule is that for pencil pleat curtains you want double the width, for eyelets/tabs one and a half widths is ample.
Curtain makers can be expensive, pre made can save you a fortune. My old flat was a Victorian build and needed a 3mt drop to reach the floor, I bought my curtains from Ikea who do all theirs in that drop with hem tape to take them up to where you need them. Got mine for maybe £20-30, worked out how much it would have cost to have them made and you could easily add a 0 onto the end of what I paid
MRSLW hope the vet is able to help your poor dog
It's a grey yucky day here, have been AWOL from the board for a week, been a tough month end but mostly done with now.
Have managed to behave mostly, no crazy spends and house looks reasonably presentable. What I need to do is get stuck into decluttering and decorating.
Plan for today is one of two. First is visiting the gym after work, doing a spot of tidying then attending a meeting of the local village association. Second is going home from work, possibly visiting the gym then going up to the BF's for the night. He's having a tough time and although there isn't a lot I can do to help just being there will hopefully make a difference.
Have a good day all, hugs where needed

Thanks everyone, the vet has prodded and poked the lurcha and pronounced him fit in every respect other than his tumour and having given that a thorough examination has concluded that it isn't painful but is a bit inflamed so has given a two week course of anti inflammatories which she hopes will make him a bit more comfy. Review in two weeks with the prospect of having him in them constantly from now on if they help or trying something else if they don't. Can't hope for anything better than that under the circumstances can we? He's now fast asleep behind the sofa, on his back with all his feet in the air and looks like a huge dead spider from where I'm sitting ..... Oh it's a dogs life!!!!!0

Good morning everyone
Didn't want to rant first thing this morning so just started off the thread. Apologies for ranting now but I just need to get some of this stuff off my chest so please feel free to ignore.
We are trying very hard to be positive while exploring any opportunity that is open but it doesn't look too hopeful. DH works in a college, not a school and all the college management is interested in is numbers of students and exam results. They seem very keen to get rid of their older and experienced AND MORE EXPENSIVE staff but redundancy for these people would also be expensive, so they are trying to make lives as difficult as possible so they leave and can replaced by newly qualified teachers or even unqualified people, i.e. as cheap as possible. There are 3 teachers doing the same thing as DH but who live locally, we live 37 miles away but DH is the one who has been selected to teach evening classes. DH is teaching functional skills while unqualified staff employed to teach functional skills are being forced into teaching GCSE. One of DH's friends is not teaching either subject he is qualified in and instead is being forced to teach on a vocational course he knows nothing about. There is so much other stuff, far too much to go into here but it makes for a dreadful situation and most staff work in an atmosphere of fear every day.
The education system in this country is ruined. I believe it started when testing was introduced to practically every age group and the only thing that now matters is results - results that really mean nothing, as our children are taught to pass exams rather than be educated in the actual subject. DH says he does nothing he is qualified to do and can't see any future where things will change unless we leave this country and go somewhere where a real education is still valued, so this is our plan.
This weekend we will start seriously decluttering our house and dedicate everything we have to paying off our remaining debt as quickly as possible, we will then start the preparation to sell our house. If DH can get a job overseas, we will make a fresh start there, if not he will take early retirement and we will find somewhere to live abroad as cheaply as possible. Our aim is to be gone by next September, we need to be realistic and make this achievable and we have already booked a family holiday for next year but the money for this is earmarked and it was never going to happen until after the remaining debt was well gone. Our target is now to be debt free by end of March 2015 ... watch this space!
OK rant and ramble over, you can open your eyes again :rotfl:
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day.
