when you think a brand new Mazda MX-5 25th Anniversary Limited Edition is 23K on the road

i dont know the on the road price of the car that you were looking at but assume it was £20,000.00 to £21,000.00 then at a year old with low miles a franchised dealer asking $17,000.00 is not unreasonable

they did come down to £16,500.00 and if you could chip him a bit more and get it for 16K then you be saving four to five thousand pounds on a late model low miles car

that said on a car like that £16,500.00 might be his bottom line and he really cant go much lower

    Hard tops are for wimps!

The hood is exceptional anyway and doesnt leak.

I've had 4 so far and they're great little cars. Nicely tail happy in the snow if thats what you want to do ;)

Had mine out in the snow with the hood down :)
Only paid 900 quid for mine. Probably why it got stuck half way up a slight hill in the snow.

That's good to know. I don't think it is ever worth buying a new car, is it?

I'm going to look at another one this weekend. Slightly older (12) but the same spec with 19000 miles. It's £15500.

  • OP, I do not recommend the Mazda MX5. Before you do go ahead with the purchase I strongly suggest you try out the Toyota GT86 or if you do not mind purchasing an older car (but much superior to MX5) a 2009 Honda S2000.

I test drove the MX5 and it does not hold a candle to either the GT86 or the s2000. The s2000 is the best car out of the three in terms of driving.

    GT86 isnt a convertible.

S2000 is rather old and a bit of a handful if you're just wanting something to cruise about in.

I'm a form over function girl when all's said and done. This car will be a consolation to me for having had a completely !!!!!! last 18 months or so so it has to be new enough not to give me any trouble but showy enough to make me feel good.
I expect in another couple of years I will trade it back in for something sensible.

I don't really know much about motoring and being able to plug in my ipod is more important to me than brake horse power. /shallow

A couple of mine were at that price. Great value and a load of fun!

Winter tyres and some weight in the boot.

    +1

MX5s arent about the performance, they're about the fun factor.

They are a lovely little car that put a smile on your face.
