  • Does online dating exist? I mean I met my girlfriend online, however we dated in the real world. Not sure it would have worked if after a conversation in a chat room I asked her back to my forum to see my avatar.

guys on the street commenting, unsolicited, on my appearance = creepy and objectifying

guys in bookshop asking about things I am browsing = seeing me as more than just a body = less creepy

I tend to find it hard to reconcile your two sides.

You claim to have history of depression and anxiety, long term unemployment, a lack of resourcefulness to finding education, training and a job, cite frustration with living at home and not becoming fully independent.

Then you become some kind of chirpy lothario.

    How do you do this?

Going by this thread -extremely badly!

Me: "Hi HPoirot, excuse me, this is really random, but i saw those shoes you were wearing and they look great on you."

    HPoirot: *smiling* "Oh, thank you!"

Me: "That was all, have a good day"

HPoirot: "Yes, you too" *still smiling*

    :D;)

You missed the bit where she used those wonderful shoes to kick you in the nuts!
  • My experience of online dating has been very negative. I have all the usual classic stories, shorter, fatter uglier than pictures and maybe they thought the same about me! who knows!

So yes, knocked that on the head. I don't go out anywhere to meet blokes, dog walking and the supermarket haven't garnered any exciting encounters!

Generally I have given up with dating. too old and too busy for all the bs. and as I said I am sure men have felt the same way, that's fine by me.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Best piece of advice I could give you? Quit scenarios like the above! It's creepy, and the majority of Women would not be flattered by it. Instead they'd be thinking of the fastest way to get away!
