Halifax Clarity reward contactless credit card

Another update in the "can Clarity cards started 5286 83 get a contactless card".
Phoned again about another matter and asked about contactless. Obviously got a no answer but operator seemed to think I could apply for another card that isn't the Clarity and get that contactless. But if I do that, I could apply anywhere and maybe get a better deal.0 -

Mentioned contactless cards but he said still not yet. He then went on to explain about re-applying. I'd have to close the account then wait 60 days to reapply. Apparently I'd definitely get accepted as my internal scores are high (to quote his words).
Not an ideal solution, so I'll just stick as I am. Slightly annoying as it would be nice to be able to use this card on the tube.
If you have a non-clarity Halifax card and want a Clarity card you can now apply for a transfer without having to close the old account and wait to re-apply. I guess the same doesn't apply if you've already got a Clarity card though.
They do run a credit check again when you transfer and you might not get the same limit as your old card.
FWIW I live in Buckinghamshire and got a contactless Clarity when I opened one without specifically asking for contactless in January.0 -
I probably use my Clarity card more than all my other credit cards put together.
It's become a bit worn: the plastic coating has started to peel away and I've had problems using it in a few Chip and PIN machines recently.
I requested a replacement via Halifax's website on Thursday. Surprisingly, a new card arrived today. It's contactless. I live in Wales and contactless machines are still quite rare around me.
I guess Halifax issues contactless Clarity cards as standard now.0 -

Does the card number start 5286 83? These are the cards of long term customers they have traditionally refused to make contactless.0 -

All clarity cards are now contactless if you request a new one.0

Very contradictory.
It's previously been mentioned that Halifax only issued contactless cards to customers in specific post codes.
It's also been mentioned that customers on the 'old' Halifax system don't see their Clarity card displayed correctly when they view their accounts. Mine looks like this, which isn't what my card looks like:

Mine is one of the legacy 5286 83 ones and online it says "Halifax Clarity Mastercard" and the picture of the card is correct.0

Same here. My card is playing up occasionally (as did the previous one) so I have ordered a new card. Will see what arrives...0
