  • Hola Beauty Queens

I have gutted my bathroom cupboards this morning and filled a bucket with stuff I don't want, don't need or don't like. So, OUT

Twisted Sista Curl Activator; nice product but HATE the smell, imagine the pong which wafts from a plastic bag of bananas when you tear it open. That. Bleugh.
Alberto Balsam Ultra Strong Styling Gel; DS2 is way beyond the spiky hair stage, he's now aiming for an emo long fringe. He's only 9 :D
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Conditioner; didn't do anything for my hair, kept it to shave my legs but as I now have an epilator I'll never use it. Matching shampoo is still doing a grand job of cleaning the bathroom though!
Pantene Clarifying Shampoo; hangover from my bright hair days, is has been hanging around for 2+ years and has discoloured.
Superdrug Raspberry and Macadamia Nut Shampoo and Conditioner; these have been lying around for ages, only one or two uses left in both but apparently turning the bottle upside down is too much effort for the girls. Will decant the last of the shampoo into the handwash bottle.
Elida 2 in 1 Shampoo; bought this for 25p in Tesco years ago, thought at the time it would be handy for going swimming. Conveniently forgot that unless I'm on holiday, I don't go swimming :o
Morrisons Baby Oil; no idea why I bought this, especially as I already have some J&J stuff.
Vaseline Active Fresh AP Spray; don't like the smell AT ALL, persevered as long as I could but life is too short to try and avoid smelling your own pits all day. Last dribble in the bin.
Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment; used it on my tattoos when they were healing. No more tatts planned and it's expired.
Naked Shine Coconut & Shea Glossing Hair Treatment; Poundland buy, not rich enough for my hair.

    I make that… 11 OUTs :)

I do have three INs though…

Nivea Double Effect AP Spray 250ml; bought with an AP voucher and it was half price in Boots so I think this big can cost me something like 55p; smells lovely.
Superdrug Age Care Body Lotion 250ml x2; they were selling these off in the Solihull branch last week for 10p, so it would have been rude not to ;)

Off to find a strong bin bag for all my rubbish!

Hello ladies, I'm back! :hello: I'll apologise now for the mammoth post which will no doubt ensue...

Had a fabulous time in Mexico, it was great to spend some quality time with DH, get some sun and recharge the batteries before the long slog to Christmas at work.

I've tried to catch up on the threads but won't even try to respond individually... so hugs to those who need them, belated birthday wishes, welcome to all the newbies and hope everyone had great holidays. It's good to see some of the veterans of this thread posting again :)

FizzWhizz - I'm so jealous about the Hives/WAS gig - we wanted to go but were too manic with work as it was our last week before holidays :(

So as you can imagine, I have lots of UUs, I'm going to count them all as September...

1-2/211-12. Soltan Moisturising Suncare Spray SPF 15 75ml x 2 - WMBA, great size for travel but does have a tendency to ball.

3/213. Hawaiian Tropic Dry Oil Spray SPF6 200ml - HG, WDBA, keeps my skin very hydrated.

4/214. Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Sun Lotion SPF15 2180ml - WBA, loved this. HT is definitely my fave-smelling sun cream.

5/215. Hawaiian Tropic Body Butter After Sun 200ml - HG, lovely scent and very moisturisng without being sticky. More stashed and WDBA.

6/216. TBS Rainforest Balance Shampoo 60ml - WPNBA, quite drying.

    7/217. L'Occitane Shine Mask 8ml - WNB, didn't wow me.

8/218. John Frieda Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Mask 25ml - WBA, this was the last of my stash of about 20. Replaced with a large stash of Tigi so no need to replace just yet!

9/219. Lee Stafford Dry Shampoo 50ml - freebie and WPNB, I wash my hair every day so rarely need dry shampoo but this was good for a quick refresh on holiday.

10/220. Cutex Nourishing Nail Polish Remover 200ml - WBA but no need for several years I'm sure as replaced with same from stash (of course!) and a bottle lasts me forever.

11/221. Sanctuary Body Scrub 50ml - WMBA, think I prefer the S&G one as it's scrubbier.

12/222. Original Source LIme Shower Gel 250ml - this was gifted and WMB but it didn't wow me.

13/223. Simple Kind to Skin Facial Cleansing Wipes x 7 - freebie and WMB but only for gym bag/travels as I prefer a full cleanse.

14/224. Paco Rabanne Eau My Gold EDT 1.5ml - nice enough but WNB

    TA:
1/2. Mark Hill Holiday Hair Stay Straight Shaping Polish - WNBA, TA the dregs of this as it was too heavy for my hair and had had it for 5 years :o

And I came back to the following freebies INs through the post:

    1/183. Aveeno Moisturising Cream 15ml

2/184. Clinique Smart Custome Repair Serum 1.5ml

3/185. Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet EDT 1ml

    4/186. DKNY MYNY EDT sample

plus a freebie from the hotel spa:

5/187. Pevonia Marine Collage Cream 5ml

No bought INs yet this month and none planned! Goes without saying, I'm in again this month - thanks Babafette for starting us off! Will post my PP shortly.

  • Maddie: I'm only going to be around Heathrow for two days in total. The husband found a tour of Austrian steam trains and we have to leave from the UK. The company just couldn't work it so that two Canadians showed up in Austria and joined them. So, we've booked into a hotel near Heathrow, apparently it's in Hounslow and then we have to find Slough to meet up with this tour. So it will be a quick run around Hounslow to pick up some reading material and snacks for the trip.

I could be in a danger zone because I've figured out there is a mall in Hounslow and then the duty free on the ferry. Good thing when we hit Brussels it's late and the shops will be closed!

    Hello

I've been lurking on this board for quite a while now and today I went through my stash (I have 236 items - 27 deodorants, really?) and that really opened my eyes.

So if you're not against it, I'd like to join you. I already have my first UU:

Kera Science "Ultra Repair" Shampoo - WNBA. It made my hair dry and straw like (thank God I have a good conditioner) even though the smell is nice.

English is not my first language so sorry for some misspellings :(

    welcome butterfly :hello:

This is a lovely thread and you're in good company here (I once had a huge stash of glitchy deodorants, now I've gotten through those but have 25 sun creams and 40 body lotions... :o)

wondercollie - enjoy your holiday (and your pre-holiday shopping spree!)

  • Hello butterfly :waves:

You're more than welcome to join us :)

Wondercollie - it's a shame you only have a stopover in the UK. The weather is glorious at the moment. I hope that you have a lovely hol with your DH.

Sundaysgirl - lovely to see you back :) I'm glad that you had such a wonderful time in Mexico. An excellent list of used ups as well! :rotfl:

I have a used up to report:

Bamford Body Wash (Geranium) (50ml) - the scent wasn't amazing but the formula was great! It lathered up incredibly well for an SLS free product and felt nourishing. Wouldn't pay the price for a fullsize but I'm happy that I have at least one more to UU :D (I was v disappointed by the Bamford Bath Oil so the shower gel was a nice surprise...)

TA Estee Lauder Wood Mystique sample; this is apparently a unisex fragrance but it smells like aftershave to me and a pretty manky one at that. Google tells me it smells strongly of oud, I don't even know what that is but it stinks :) DH baulked at using it up too so in the bin it goes. FLING!

While working in Dubai I learned OUD is an oil from the bark of a rare tree. Very expensive and highly prized in Arab Gulf countries, reputedly an aphrodisiac, though all the expat colleagues I knew hated it and we joked it was more like a natural contraceptive! I dreaded getting into elevators as some seemed to bathe in it and the scent was so overpowering I'd be nauseous by the time I reached my floor. Just shows how smell is so, so individual. I suspect blended with other scents a subtle amount is fine.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

    UU

Molton Brown White Mulberry hand wash - repurposed as shower gel.
WNBA - not great enough for the cost!

    68 items left

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.
  • Thanks for the welcome sundaysgirl & willowbee! :) I'm looking forward to use my stash up :)

Love love love York. Try and stop off at the Soap Shop while you are there. What have you got planned?

We are staying just a few miles from York in our motor home, with a bus service every half hour to York outside the site, so will be using our free bus passes to avoid parking charges and not using extra fuel:money: We will have 5 full days, so hopefully 3/4 in York seeing museums, Minster, etc and perhaps 1 in Harrogate. VALM I must look up the details for the soap shop, as last time I visited the craft centre where I buy my gorgeous hand made soap I was short of time and did not buy any (that's my excuse for buying more anyway:rotfl:) It will be nice to see some big shops/stores too as living in the sticks means that I do not often get to look at lovely toiletries and skin care IRL. Desperately need a new foundation, I don't mind how much I pay if I can get a good colour match and a nice light coverage.

Lots of lovely UU's from people:), hopefully I will have a few by month end, but have so many fairly newly opened full sizes that it will take ages. Not too sad about this, as mostly really nice things and it would not be :money: to "wish them to be UU".

My nails are in a really grotty state, mainly a reflection of health/absorbtion issues I think, have some Nailtiques treatments due tomorrow, so I hope that a week of tlc and no gardening and not much housework will give them a boost
