A vent about people who vent after the "incident" but said nothing at the time

Something that annoys me (as I've just replied to two other threads re this) is when people are told they'll have to wait a certain time for something (eg 5 minutes) and they wait for longer than that (20 minutes) and then complain about the wait!!
It's interesting I very rarely have anything to vent about, probably because I report things at the time or not be a sucker and deal with it!0 -
Most of them probably don't complain at the time because there's nothing to complain about and all the evidence is right there in front of everyone so they can't claim otherwise, but by the time they get home and have had a whole car journey to exaggerate and fabricate more details then finally they have something worth venting about and there's no sales assistant or cashier to turn round and say "actually, that didn't happen"
From my own experience there's a growing breed of elderly women who go to a shop either looking for something to complain about or expecting that the staff are out to get them and taking everything in the worst light possible, I've even seen it in my own family with grandparents, as soon as your in a shop they're looking about at the staff very cautiously and muttering comments about how "they" do this and that to con you, of course there's never any evidence of these things because they only heard it from another old woman who heard it from another, and another, and another.
p.s I like your sig Timmne, i wish people would read it, Sick of reading people talking about going to a shop to buy something and saying "i went in, brought it for £30" used to think it was a typo but, the R is nowhere near the B or O. Did i just rant?Bought, not Brought0 -

Quite possibly, but absolutely justifiably.
Grammar and punctuation (just don't get me started about apostrophes in the wrong place) seem to be things of the past.

The problem with complaining at the time is that most of the british public could actually do with a course in learning to complain effectively. Most of the people I deal with are either whingeing about 'red tape' etc which no individual manager has any control over, whinge and whine for an age but absolutley refuse to let anyone resolve it (like a silly little ***** I had today - flew off the handle but wouldnt stop and take a breath so that the alternative could be explained), or simply lose their fricking minds or something (shouting and being abusive - really, there is no need for it).
Im all for someone saying to me that something displeases them - however, the conversation should go a little like this:
Them: (*calmly), I need to talk about x issue with you, 1 is wrong, 2 is wrong, and 3, I feel offended by the suggestion of 4.
Me: Im sorry to hear that. Let me just check the details with you, 1 and 2 are wrong, and you feel offended by 4.
Them: Yes.
Me: 1 & 2 are common problems and I will feed that back to the appropriate departments for you, and in the mean time I can do 5 and 6 to resolve it in the short term. In regards to 4, I am extremely sorry about that, I understand your offense to it and apologise unreservedly. It would appear to be a training issue and I will bring this up with the management. Is that ok?
Them: yes, thats fine, thank you.
Me: No problem, here are my contact details should you need to contact me again about this. (*Off JW toddles to fix said problems)

Them: Im really annoyed about 2, 4, 9 and 10, its an effing outrage, you are wrong, are you people stupid or something??

if you scream and shout and throw at tantrum about something, it's not going to go in your favour.
If you calmly and politely state the fact of the situation it'll be taken more seriously.
Most people that shout and swear are just a joke, will be seen as that and treated as they treat others.0 -
You'd think that. But then when I look at the moaners I've sometimes seen in retail I think ok they may tell people, but will they listen? In other words, if Victor Meldrew was real would you really not go to somewhere because he was moaning about it? I've seen many people who constantly seem to think they have bad service and just find them boring. The thing is others think the same as well.
Where is Dave Brooker? Haven't seen him on here for a couple of weeks now.
