Told off for swearing

Staff probably just have tables they prefer to sit at for whatever reasons. Seems fair enough to me.0

Not necessarily anymore http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2008207/Officers-told-arrest-people-scream-obscenities-courts-wont-convict.html
Excuse the Daily Wail
That's been the case for ages. The courts got fed up of police officers lying about being psychologically scarred and upset after hearing a swear word! It would be pretty worrying if police officers were too sensitive that they couldn't cope with certain arbitrary sounds. They wouldn't be able to do their job properly.
Similarly, in public, unless you're shouting at someone and trying to intimidate them (which I assume is a crime in itself), where's the problem? I'd worry about the mental state of someone who can't cope with overhearing a word in a conversation that they aren't even a even a party to! Haven't people got better things to worry about!
I'm surprised that a pub would have a language usage policy! I suppose you could get round it by substituting a banned exclamation such as "F*** me!" with something that uses polite non-swear words, like, "Ejaculating semen from a masturbated penis!". A bit of a mouthful, but at least it's not swearing and won't upset the strange people that aren't able to cope with "swear noises".
If people grew up a bit and stopped pretending to be offended at silly noises, then swearing loses its power.0 -
Good. Well done on the pub.
If the majority of us can manage not to swear in public, I'm sure deep, deep down you can too.0 -

It isn't wrong to swear, it doesn't harm anyone.0 -
Mild swearing is fine with me, some swearing is unavoidable, at most with me unless its a loud bunch of women or some drunk louts swearing every few words it doesnt really annoy me unless its loud and even then you just roll your eyes.
If the person is in a corner of the bar and no one can hear them bar someone who goes out of their way to sit near them then who are they bothering? and in OP's case it could of been them trying to cheer their friend up by joking.
I dislike the PC crowd of now where anything can be offensive but when something actually bad occurs its nothing.0 -

The OP probably won't be back as the new school term has started.0

If Marky-Boy actually believes their comment and isn't just posting to elicit a reaction, then I think that their career prospects are probably pretty low anyway.0
