Ryanair - yet another con

Whilst you may not agree with every statement that someone makes or their point of view on a given topic it does not give anyone, particularly grown adults the right to call anyone a wally or similar statements and sentiments. It's pretty disgusting behaviour on a forum. Would it not have been more pleasant to say something along the lines of "I'm really sorry you feel Ryanair have fallen short of your expected standards, perhaps give them a few days longer to respond your query and then give them a call to check on process. I'm sure it is normal for them to take a while to work through their customer service (insert joke maybe....or lack of customer service) emails."
On a final note, if you're sick of seeing people rants about Ryanair stop reading the threads to just post nasty comments, stick to the ones you have a genuine interest in.
Apologies for the rant but the OP, like many of us, has come for help and advice at a time when they feel they may have got some helpful words from someone who has had similar experiences. It doesn't make it wrong just because you have a different point of view.
Well said!
I'm not too bothered if others have a different view to me and they want to express it. However, one person in particular on this thread is clearly a wind up merchant with nothing of any use to add to the discussion, but an awful lot to add to his ego. As someone else said recently, it's often best not to provide them with oxygen.0 -

But the OP didn't come on here for help and advice.
He came on to accuse Ryanair of operating a deliberate scam to avoid paying out compensation after he'd threatened to use this forum to trash it.
I,and other posters, merely explained to him how the compensation procedure works for FR and most other airlines but he persisted in a rather ill-advised attempt to traduce the airline's reputation.
MSErs are generally a fair-minded bunch who'll dish it out where criticism is justified but also defend companies when it's not.
I'd save your sympathy for posters with a genuine grievance rather than just impatience.0 -
Ryanair is very much a marmite airline.
People tend to have an expectation of legacy airline style service levels but LCC price.
I have personally used Ryanair many times to Dublin but only once further afield and have decided an hour is my limit. I'm happy to travel an hour with them for a cheap fare but for longer journeys they are not comfortable enough. Doesn't mean I'm going to slag them off because they don't suit me all the time though.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It's also a company that is making serious attempts to improve its customer service and overall flying experience for passengers.
I personally never had a problem with them before because I followed all their T&Cs and understood the limitations that rock-bottom prices bring.
But to accuse them on here of a deliberate con is simply dishonest.0 -

I'm not slagging them off because they "don't suit" me. I'm slagging them off because they left me stranded in Barcelona with zero communication for four hours.
Had you been left in the same situation you may just alter your feeling of benevolence towards their operation.0 -
Update - Ryanair's enhanced Customer Service improvements appear to be paying off, according to latest load factor figures released today.

Whilst I agree with most of you there is no need call this a "con" or a "scam" because it's normal to wait a long time before things are processed - I do understand the OP's bad experience of having to deal with a flight that was cancelled.
It's okay, some people do get emotional when bad things happen ... some (like most of you here) take it more lightly ...
In regards to getting a "confirmation" from RyanAir that the fax/documents were received I would just email them asking to confirm they received my documents (i.e. receipts / refund request) and once I have this confirmation, in writing, that they have it then I'll feel fine ...
Or in the very worse case there is no email or option to get things in writing just call them and record the conversation ... and if after 60 days you get nothing - dispute the transaction with your credit-card company, supply a paper containing a link for them to listen to the audio file and let them take care of the rest.0
