Hope your parents feel better soon and manage without your visiting this weekend. You sound really exhausted by it all so I hope you get a bit of respite.

Don't worry about DS, it's a teenage thing and nothing to do with you not having enough time. My DS was exactly the same from 15 to 18, lived like a vampire, only really coming alive at night. He turned out ok and I'm sure your DS will too.

Good way to look at car cost x

Thanks for popping into mine when you are so busy.

Just 3 sleeps and a 22 hour flight until I see my darling girl now

    Granny x

    Hello lovely Granny,
Mum and Dad haven't got any worse, and seem to be improving a bit now, so I'll go later in the week and do a big shop for them and help around house etc.
Hope you have a lovely relaxing couple of days before the 22 hour flight - it will be exhausting! Hope you are good at sleeping on planes?

    Love and hugs

    Hi NOA,

Hubby pays tax on a car benefit of £4,200 doesn't he? That sounds just like mine :( !! He doesn't actually pay £4,200 tax each year on it does he? If he does he must be posing in a vintage Rolls Royce or something :rotfl:!!!!

After running my own cars into the ground on long business mileage (brakes / tyres etc etc) the company car is the best thing on the wallet. As long as it's not a vintage Rolls you're quids in :)........it just doesn't feel like it when you look at the taxable amount......really why should you have to pay all that on a vehicle that is only there so you can do your job for your employer? It's not fair but still the best option.

Hope your parents are doing OK - with NOA in charge things will go well.

Hello Brogden! You having so much confidence in me makes me confident in me :A-Thank you:) but we must stop meeting like this....you should not be here Valentines Day!! MYexcuse is DH has gone succumbed to the dreaded cold lergy and I am keep well away at the other end of the house! Looking after Number 1;). What's yours?!!

4.2 K is the actual tax for car benefit + fuel charges as DH work pays for private use as well but have worked out we need to spend £220+ on fuel a month on h is car to cover. Approx £100 on travel to work. The rest would have to be used at weekends. I can use it when possible but it might be tricky to cover that much mileage especially as it is annoyingly efficient! so no - not a vintage RR, though that would be very nice;) as am an old fashioned gal at heart. iTs an A4 saloon, very nice to drive, but he had no choice so couldn't opt for something smaller.
He can't help with school run in the mornings as would be late to work, and complains about doing it in the evenings as it means he has to leave promptly and it "doesn't look good". If he could do the evening pickups it would half my fuel costs and would make it worth it! At the moment we are going to be possible £220 worse off a month.
Need to look at pension stuff for him to get tax relief that way rather than just keep paying more and more tax. Saw you are looking at that too....

Also got mortgage statement through - down from 210K to 202K. with 9 years to fund 96K that is interest only at the moment :(
Am working hard but need to work smarter somehow, but still retain the flexibility that self employment offers to be able to be there for those that need me.

    Happy Valentine:kisses3:

I forgot it was Valentines Day NOA :o Nothing very romantic in progress here!

Sorry to hear hubby has the dreaded lurgy. But its on an ill wind......I haven't so you can come and sit with me ;).

My fuel for private use isn't paid for by my employer and I have always envied those who have this benefit - perhaps I shouldn't as my private use isn't really many miles, just hundreds of short trips so I'd probably lose out on the dreaded tax if I they paid me that benefit.

Speaking of the dreaded tax......I'm still obsessed with my strategy and I'll have to post on it :).

    Happy Sunday my dear :kisses3:

    Happy Sunday Noah...!

Hope you are enjoying a peaceful weekend at home and good news that your parents are improving a little.

I used to have a lease car and the tax was.. but to me having a new car every 3 years was bliss and I was doing a lot of mileage so an old car wouldn't have been practical.. Unlike now where my little car is 13 now but we don't do more than 5k miles a year and generally all within a 10 mile radius....

I haven't done any more exercise since my previous post on my diary.. lazy me... have cleaned the oven this morning mind... what a disgusting job that is...!!

Enjoy the rest of your sunday, hope its nice and dry where you are and you are pottering around your garden enjoying the snowdrops..

Have you looked at the snowdrops yet Noa? At the moment, I happen to be spending a few days in a county where every hedge row and copse seems to be carpeted in them. When I get home I will be picking myself a little posy from the garden and bringing them indoors :D

    Hey Puzz
Thank you for dropping in. OVen......Oh yes, mine is desperately neglected- I need to do that too. I did the fridge properly the other day though - every shelf and box out and washed down totally -then went for a big shop and restocked!
Have tried to get out everyday even if just for 5 minutes to see what's coming through, the snowdrops are so pretty this year, there are huge clumps - naturalised everywhere and some have dropped from the bank and in the edges of the lawn:)
