Good morning NOA.
I'm delurking to say that you should take that holiday. Your children are approaching that time when they will soon get busy schedules/partners/jobs etc and might find it difficult to go away in future. Also, life is short and none of us know what's waiting for us around the next corner. So book that holiday and cherish having your family around you. You deserve it.
Back to lurking......

Good Morning:)
Igamogam - Thank you, it will be a bumper harvest this year I thinkmost years the birds get 95% of them as we don't protect it, but that's ok
jvr - Thank you for your kind words and supportIt has been a very long time, 7 years since our last holiday abroad and we only did that because I won £500 cash towards a holidays in a review writing competition - it paid for flights to Spain
tjp70 - Thank you for delurking and you your kind words of support tooThe last year in particular has been hard, feel really weighed down, life:work balance not been good.
Brizzle - Thank you too- It might be Kipling - I need to look it up too after I log off....
SO..........NEWSFLASH.....BREAKING NEWS......
I've done it. I have been sitting here shaking and very tearful with a whole mix of emotions, none of which I can pin down.
Have given go ahead to agent to book flights  Money paid early this morning so should have cleared by lunchtime for agent to issue tickets. The buffer that I have had in bank account the past 12 months will be gone by the end of the month when the rest of the holiday costs go out.
I'm excited because we're going. I'm happy because DD also gets the opportunity to do something that DS is doing, she couldn't go on any big trips in sixth form because that's when money was at its most elusive. I'm fearful that we'll end up juggling pennies again when we get back if SE work goes down again. I'm sad because I would have liked to go somewhere we could have taken mum. I'm worried in case something goes wrong and we can't go.
And a host of other feelings. Have sat and worked out extra costs this summer as DS moves to sixth form, and other stuff in the pipeline and am making myself a bit queasy.
Non-Breaking News,
washing is in and about to hang out,
NHS chasing phone calls done to get meds on repeat
Mail opened, another creditor has written with a discounted settlement off. In theory we could pay off 11k of debt for 7K payment. I haven't asked for these, they are just sending them. Am still not sure what I feel about doing that. But it is irrelevant as we can't take up the offers anyway. Or I could have if we hadn't perhaps booked thebut even then I would have preferred topay chunk off mortgage.
2 quotes to type and post today.
Chase up outstanding payment of 3K, they said last week they would pay this week but it is not in account yet.
Also need to do a grocery shop as am going to see Mum tomorrow. Need to cook for the week on Sunday.
Then I think I will call friend that I go to garden centre caf! with. DS is still asleep. This is my last day at home until half term. DS has done 5/21 of his exams.
Still shaking, going to have a quick cuppa before I make a start.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Thank You Puzz, Verbatim, Bob, Moneyfordreams :A for all your support - it means a lot to me, The feelings of guilt are coming in waves alternating with some relief at having made a positive decision.
I am going to try and plan it systematically so that I don't wear myself out before we travel. Have just been looking at website ofr travel vaccinations, seems like will need to pay for some of them which might be quite steep if we all four need them - hadn't factored that inbut will check properly tomorrow as very tired tonight. Left at 5am this morning to go to mums, got back about 30mins ago. This trip was to be there for new carpet which was fitted in lounge today. Helping her with Things to help her move forward, even whilst things get neglected at home. it made her happy today.
Eyes are closing as I type so will say good night and and a good nights sleep for all

Well done on booking the holiday. Am sure it's right for you.
Don't over do it. So glad you made your mum happy but look after yourself too. Take it easier when you can (and that's an order)

Thanks Brizzle, Yes Ma'am:)
Not much time as expected to be on here much. Full time part time job all week, ticking over trying to keep on top of SE work in the evenings plus all the usual domestics. DS GCSE's in full flow. House a mess. Just off to see Mum again today, leaving DS to his revision.
Its beautiful outside but don't have time to enjoy it today.
Same all of next week, then a breather for half term, though there will be to-ing and fro-ing to mums still.
Garden very lush and green and wild, a haven for wildlife (probably think its an abandoned house:)) - deer yesterday evening, 2 pea hens:T the night before - where did they come from! Took some beautiful photos of them.
Trying to see if we can reduce some cost on holiday accommodation but didn't have time to call this week, need to get that sorted this weekend so agent can confirm the bookings.
Life is a bit of a blur at the moment.
Need to do grocery shop so there is food in the house for DS/DH, the cupboard is bare at the mment, the last three evenings I have picked up pizza and frozen meals on way home from work, spending £20 each day, with nothing much to show for it
Need to pull my sock up!
Hope all is well with all
