Have saved £200 on our home insurance, cancelled our re-newel policy as it was very high and then compared others, have paid the £117 contents and buildings insurance in full saving about £10 in interest, feeling very happy about this!!
So this year have saved on both car and home insurance as well as getting mobile phone bill down to £10.50 a month! Phew its hard work making these savings!heehee. Next one is to try and get the Sky bill reduced and look at whether we can better broadband but this isnt up till Sept/Oct time, it has already been reduced by £10 and the limit has been taken off our download (internet is very poor here, apparently within the year it will upgraded to fibre optic...not convinced!) so that takes it to £52 for Sky, internet and phone, hoping to reduce this!
Waiting patiently for the money to get into the Mortgage account, but as its fell on the weekend nothing moves! Daft in this day and age! Hoping my maths is right and its in the 179s!!

Thanks Muser!! Love mini milestones!
Hey CreamTea! According to my workings out we are on target to hit the 90% in July 2016 which is when it comes up, though if I can find some more pennies will get there by April 2016! Feels good, though almost 2 years to pay 5% does feel painful if I think of it like that!heehee.
Have had a lovely day off today, pottered this morning painting my troughs, got to hot so came in, played with the dogs in the field, got to hot and came in, read outside got to hot then came in, went and did some raking in the field, got waaaay to hot and came in! My friend is coming over soon and I'm so looking forward to a catch up!
Have decided to do a little comparison to help remind myself how far we have come in nearly a year with OP's compared to if we didn't! If we hadn't OPayed at all in July 2015 our balance would have been: £183,251 and instead it was: £180,404.24 which is a whopping 2846.76 more!! Amazing!
Jodles
Ohh just realised that though the mortgage runs out in Jul 2016, we didnt actually start until September! Therefore havent actually reached a year, making the OPs even better!!

Been a couple of weeks since I bobbed in last! Have put up some extra fencing as people keep taking their dogs into the fields around us (no footpaths, they shouldnt be there!) so this helps to show where those fields end and our garden/field begins! Have already planted hawthorn, but its not doing well, have got gaps in the fencing so the Hawthorn and the Brambles can grow through and make a nice thick nature hedge!
Have bought 300privet hedges to plant down the other side to start the privacy hedge there for £358 which seems a good price. Still waiting for them to be despatched, hoping they wont wait til November, certainly didnt say that online and its evergreen anyway...Will email them!
Been a horrid saturday so far, rainy! Took the dogs for a walk and now sat inside feeling sulky!
Almost booked the course I wanted to do for next year, the course was £540 and you need to do four of these, they are 6days and hours away from home, by the time I have booked somewhere to stay within reasonable distance its getting closer to £800, not including food or travel, this has really put me off! Especially as I would be on my own for 6days over my birthday! Have put it on hold for now. Had booked a cottage but have requested a refund. When looking at cottages I realised I want our house but with a hot tub, so concluded will just hire a hot tub for my birthday and spend the week at home!!

So refund of £388 came back today for the cottage, asked hubby if I could chuck it at the mortgage as we were going to spend it anyway and he said whatever I want...so just made an OP of £388!
Feeling super excited, takes us a lot closer to the extra £700 we needed to find by April 2016!!

Hello Jodles, I've just caught up on the last year of your diary! You've done a fantastic job at buying your new home, OP'ing the mortgage with the efficiency you have as well as making upgrades and updates to your home. It's lovely to read the determination in you to get the mortgage down as much as possible. Plus, it's good to know that the OP's you make gain in value too when there's less required for the interest.
I'll keep popping in to see how you're getting on as your focus and organisation is contagious! It's lovely hearing that your husband is on board with it all too.
