New House, New Mortgage!

I think BTL is a great idea. It seems like a obvious choice because someone is paying off your mortgage on the house/flat so all you need to have is emergency money if anything breaks. (Plus the 25% deposit:eek:) It's mine and DH's retirement plan to own a couple of BTL. Hopefully the first one within the next five years.
Good luck with the work in the house/garden.

Ditto, will buy a BTL or commercial property if possible as soon as I get mortgage paid off.
Planning on buying the piece of garden from next door when they are ready to sell it (they are getting on a bit and said they want to reduce garden size in a couple of years) will try to put a couple of glamping pods on it or if not a cabin if we can get planning, if not will get a motor home! so we can move out of our house and rent our house out for £1500 per week for school holidays when little one goes to uni. Part of our retirement plan.0 -
All those ideas sound great good luck Ourcornercottage!

Have had a great day today out and about in the gorgeous sun! Have bought two new trees, they are already more established at over 6feet, have taken out one of my acers as it was struggling and another tree that I cannot remember what it is but it hasnt grown since we planted it. They are both in pots to see if they are still alive, hoping the acer might go to my friend who is buying a new house! Have transplanted the strawberries and raspberries into bigger pots, they are growing well! The potatoes and onions that had started growing in the cupboard are bursting the bucket they are in at the seems and the Red Robin plant has also been moved to a less drained area of the garden!
Love this house and garden, worth the ridiculous money it costs! In good news our last gas bottle lasted two months so hoping it wasnt a fluke!!
Hubby is selling his car, we were thinking about getting rid of mine and getting a new bigger car (my boot isnt very big for the dogs, but they dont go in it much really) but realised we (I) was being silly and the car is perfectly good and eco so no need to get into debt!! I amaze myself how I can go from all saving to wanting to spend! Have spent £200 this weekend on garden stuff including the two trees, firepit and a nice rug for the lounge. Feels as though its coming together a bit more, still so much to do but at least can tick some things off the list!

Fire pit is a lovely item to have at a BBQ when the evening starts to cool down although my hubby seems to start breaking up wooden items in the garden as the evening goes on to create fire wood. Luckily so far only things that are on their way out, but we are running out so who knows next time?! :rotfl:

Haha CreamTea thanks for the heads up! Will hide the saws and axe just in case as we dont have much made from wood except the stables!!
Have had a lovely weekend, the torrential rain still hasnt come and have had two lovely days! Yesterday we had a lovely relaxed morning, pottering around and the went off to see my friends new house! So exciting! She has got a fantastic cottage which is a doer-upper and I was so excited going round yesterday! Took her a mini wild strawberry plant whose leaves taste good in salads (apparently!). Love going round the garden centres!
My little sister came to stay and we had a lovely evening chilling and watching horror films! Hubby is working today so left early and I have been to a local manor house to a garden open day, took my friend who has just got her new house, she got some beautiful plants and has a lovely partially established garden already and these will fit in great! She is getting rid of her bright yellow bathroom suite and has decided she is going to use it as a giant tub in her garden! Fab idea, great re-use of an item! I bought some mouse melons, they look like tiny melons and taste like cucumber and lime apparently, a cucumber plant, purple broccoli plants and a tub of three blueberrie plants, one bears fruit in July, then the next August finishing in September! Hubby has bought me a trough as well to plant them in, £30 on the bay of e! Have been online and purchased wild garlic seed, bluebell bulbs, snowdrops and daffs to plant out later in the year! Have seen we barely have any spring flowers here so its ok to buy them now!!
Also forgot to say the cows broke in last night! Luckily only one had come through when hubby spotted them and it went back to its own field, we have used four doors from the caravan we are taking apart to plug it back together so we are hopefully safe now!

Having a bit of an anxious/stressy time with work at the moment, had a trial phone which kept setting off the lone worker alarm when I made phone calls so had to make them on speaker phone, now I sighed relief when I sent it back but have just been called on my own mobile to say that I am now on red alert and am I ok! Its very kind of them and all but I have been home for hours and no where near my current work phone which isnt logged on to anything...must be the other phone has turned on in its box or something! I just feel like its all the small stuff at the moment and it just keeps building along with the fear the police are going to turn up as this bloody alarm keeps going off! Should be back with the company tomorrow so hopefully that will be one less stress to think about it!! Hubby is away loads as well so end up just feeling all worried and stewing! Very silly of me!
Hubby has bought a lawnmower and we are hoping the farmer will be coming round to cut the field soon, its so crazy but the dogs love playing in it! Cant kick balls in it anymore though! Filled up two troughs bought for £60 from the bay of e which is super cheap and they are now filed with broccoli, mouse melons, cucumber, carrots, raspberries and strawberries! Very exciting! Have bought to small lavender plants to see if they will survive out the front of the house as it has limited sunshine but they would look so good!

Been a busy end to June, farmer still hasn't chopped the field but hubby has mowed the back garden so that's looking good! Really pleased with my strawberries, have had 7 so far and they tasted fab! Raspberry plant still seems to be growing but not producing anything, got some tiny carrots, broccoli seems well, cumber plant isn't as happy thought, the mouse melon plant is fascinating! Tiny little tendrils grabbing onto the metal frame and it looks bigger daily!
I am going to apply to cut my hours, have been watching Wild Places and the key thing everyone talks about is getting out of the rat race and I am feeling stressy/angry with work but the pros of the job make leaving difficult, therefore I am going to request every Wed off in a bid to stick at it, its still good money on reduced hours just need to be a bit tighter with the silly spends! My car spent a week in the garage as the window wouldnt work, still doesnt but they have ordered a non refundable part which they are *pretty* sure is causing the problem, fingers crossed!
Have managed to save an epic £300 on my car insurance, auto renewal was a rip as expected at £598, new insurance is £296.02 including interest! Old company would only got to £425 so am jumping ship!
Jodles

So have emailed my drop in hours request, here's hoping it will be accepted!
Very excited to see the updated mortgage tomorrow and write down the stats! Have also been putting buckets in the shower to catch any spare water, have fantastic rain head shower so plenty to catch! Gorgeous shower! This way I can water my plants (except the blueberries which only like rain water!) and not get stung with the water meter rising! Have watered the potatoes and the trees today with the water, tomorrow will be the shrubs and veg/fruit! Feels nice and frugal, even hubby is on board! Our water butt and dog pool aren't catching enough to keep us going now so perfect solution!
