Work this week seems tougher then usual, not sure if both OH and I are still feeling down about his dad. I was treated like a daughter he never had, I think it will take me a long time to get over this now.

Pay advance due tomorrow from both co # 1 and # 2, all this months bill have been budgeted for so this money will now go towards next months bills. :j

So far everyday this week the car has been frozen and we have had to de-ice it before work, I hope that this cold spell quickly goes away, it is tough enough getting up and going to work for 6am without the ice too. I can't wait for summer :rotfl:

OH has received a refund back from the Health fund, from receipts we posted through their lettebox last week. This money has now be budgeted back into the catagory for OH's health on YNAB. OH will prob need medication for life and needs continuing Dr appointments, so having money back while we can certainly helps a lot.

We have paid the vacation fund back the money they told us we had to pay back from 2014 when OH had been on long term sickness, it would have been easier to just take the money from what they paid us last year or from the pay this year. They was still some money in our vacation catagory on YNAB so that was covered from that.

The man from the insurance company had been reguarding a claim we were having to make. We are having problems with a joining wall with our neighbour, they have a building attached to ours that is wet and leaks and we are having problems with water coming into our house due to this. The insurance man said that we were unable to claim from our building insurance and it would need to come from our family insurance. The problem with that is when we moved house back in 2013, the company we have the contents insurance and family insurance from cancelled both policys instead of just transferring them to our new address. At the end 2014 I realised that we hadn't had a bill for the contents insurance so called they to find our what had happened and thats when I found our about the policys being cancelled. I asked them to reinstate the policys that had been cancelled. This isnt such an easy task when they only spoke a bit of english and I was still not so good speaking the language here. It turns out that we had only had the contents insurance reinstated and not the family insurance aswell.
OH and I have now transferred all the insurance we had with this other company over to the company that we have building insurance with and now got the family insurance that is also needed too. Still doesn't help with the now wet walls and the neighbour we are having to deal with.

We finally had the bill from the Housing Association for our part of the soundbloc work that was done back in Dec, OH had wanted to phone them up at the start of this month to find out when we would get the bill, I told him it would probably be the end of the month as I was told before they pay their bills every 2 months, so I guessed the inbetween month they would send out their bills. So this bill has been paid from our house repairs fund, not a lot left in there now though.

Yesterday I joined the payment a day thread, I had been a lurker on there for a while so though I may as well just join them.

Between yesterday and today, I found 8.21€ in work, OH and I always split any money we find 1€ coins and above, so my share is 4.21€ and that has gone into my SPC tin. I'm not really keeping an account of the exact amount in there as I want it to be a suprise when I open it at the end of the year.

January ended well money wise, we ended the month with 80.90€ still left in our shopping budget. This money has been moved into the short on bills category on YNAB and any money leftover from shopping at the end of the money goes into this category.
This money will be used to help pay any yearly bills that are short in their category. I am hoping that I have been putting enough money by in each category to cover all the yearly bills and that I will not need to use this extra money. I have decided that once this category hits 2000€ that any extra money that would have gone in here can be used to to top up other category's like the new car fund, or house repairs fund or ever our wedding which is planned for later this year.

YNAB is all up to date with any spends in the last few days. Payday is today for both OH and I from both companies we work for, just need that to hit the bank account so I can add that to YNAB too, it is normally about 4pm that it goes into the account. Then we will have to wait until next week for our payslips to know how much tax we have paid and how much more I need to put aside for tax.

Mortgage has been paid for this month and an OP of 25.44€ has been made. Ideally I would love to be able to OP more each month, but I am also trying to put money by into savings as well. Maybe when the savings are at a high enough level I might start adding more to OP the mortgage.

Wow 11 days since I last updated here.
Since my last post, we did receive wages for co#1 on the 4th Feb but wages for co #2 we didn't receive until the 5th, so not too bad only 1 day later. We do have a full months worth of money in the account for when wages are late. We are due to be paid our advance wages on the 18th so that will be set aside for next months bills.

Last week was school holidays here, so we were able to move our evening work hours to the morning / midday if we wanted, most days last week we did this, so that we were finished by 3pm most days and had the rest of the day for ourselves. It was so nice to not have to go back out to work again in the evening.

Last week I went searching online for bank accounts, to compare interest rates on savings accounts, to see if we could open an account that would pay us a better rate on our savings. It seems that here (Europe) the interest rates are really low and we seem to have the best account for our savings. They pay only 0.80% on our savings which is shocking, not sure if all of Europe is like that. I was hoping that we could get a good interest paying account like they do back in the UK. So I was not too happy with my findings.

I also started looking at pensions here for OH and me, I had mentioned it before to MIL and she told me to stay away from the pensions and shares, as they are not very good here, not sure if that is to do with some bad shares the inlaws had in the past or if it really is not worth it here and are better off just saving our money in a savings account. OH will ask his brother his opinion when he next speaks to him as he is closer in age to OH and may think it is worth doing. I will also ask OH's aunty as she is a lot younger then MIL and she may have more advice or reason then to just stay away.

Yesterday we worked for co#1 and #2. This week we only work for #2 1 day, making this our shorter week, which I am glad about as I am so tired.

Yesterday was a NSD, not sure how many we have had this month, as long as we stay within the budget then i'm happy.

OH finally had his tax bill yesterday for work he did in 2014, when we filed our taxes in 2015 there was a problem with the system and both our taxes didn't go through online, so back i Nov we had a letter saying we hadn't filed and had to do them by Dec or there would be a fine. So back online and clicked the button to re-send as they info was all still there. When I did OH's taxes it estimated he would be due a refund of 134€ odd but mine would be me owing them about the same amount. Yesterdays letter showed he was due a refund of 195€ odd and would be in the account by end of April. Thinking mine should be in the post now in the next day or 2 and that I only owe what it estimated or less. I will give me a breather until June when we are able to file 2015 taxes.

Think that is all for now, need to have breakfast and get ready for work.

Today has been a bit of a spendy day, all the bills that have come in the last few days, I have saved until today so that I could get them all paid in 1 go.

OH had a Dr appointment on Thurs evening and the card machine there was broke. Since we were going straight from work to the appointment, I didn't want to take cash with me to work. I normally pay by card and this was the 1st time the machine was broke. The Dr gave me the account number so I could pay online. OH's Dr appointments are budgeted for as he has them monthly, but we do get money back from the health fund.

Next to pay was the family insurance, I wouldn't have taken this insurance out if I hadn't needed it. It seems here (Europe)that you need more insurance then when I was living in the UK. This hadn't been budgeted for as I didn't know it was needed, so I have moved some money around to cover this and have added it into the monthly budget, so that next year the money will be there for it.

The next bills were for a part 1 of a yearly fee for the health fund, it was for both OH and I and this had been budgeted for :jThis is another thing that is needed here. It does help having it though as OH needs medication and 2 months medication would cost us more then we pay for the health fund.

The last bill that needed paying was my tax bill. This didn't need to be paid until the end of April, but I wanted it paid so I didn't forget in April and then get a fine. This is the bill that should have been paid last year, but the taxes website had a glitch so the taxes couldn't be done online proper and we didn't receive a letter until Nov of last year advising us of this. I had to go back to their website and just re-submit the form, it had all been saved and just needed the click of a button. I was correct when I did my taxes that I would have to pay an extra 103€. Now I can stop thinking about the taxes until June this year when I need to do this years taxes for the year 2015.

Not much else done today, as I was tired after work this morning and went back to bed for about 3 hours.

Back off to work again now for a short shift.

Worked this morning 6am - 9.45am for Co # 1, then drove to co #2 and worked there from 10am - 11.30am. OH made sandwiches before we left this morning, so we didn't need to buy any food while we were out ,as it is a long morning without eating.
Working again from 5.30pm - 7.30 pm for Co #1, the evening shift goes so much quicker as there is less people around.

£15 paid towards my UK debts, there is a small amount of money saved in the UK account, waiting till it builds up enough then I will offer the DCA a full and final payment.
There will then only be 1 more UK debt left, at the moment this is not being paid as it was put on hold by the DCA due to the amount they were trying to collect. They said they would go back to the CC where the debt is and see about trying to collect the amount I owe and not all the fees added from the previous DCA. I am still saving money in the UK account incase this DCA comes back, I can then offer them a small amount and then get on a payment plan with them. The longer they take the better it is for me.

Work has been tough the last few days, this week was our week that we do more hrs for CO #2, still this evenings shift then we are done for the week.

Our supervisor visited work on Tuesday to do a check up and see if we needed anything, we gave her a small list of things that was needed, which she brought with her on Wednesday evening.

On Tuesday she told us that the fine details had been made and the new hours had been agreed upon for someone coming into work on Sunday mornings to do the same job OH and I do Monday-Saturday mornings and Saturday evening, they now just need to find 2 people to do the work, seems like noone wants to work Sunday mornings, as they have been looking for people for 2 weeks now. As soon as they find 2 people then OH and I will have our hours altered slightly. (for the better) For us it will mean in the week our hours stay the same, Saturday mornings will change slightly as the evening hours will be added to the morning, meaning that we still do the same number of hours just that it will be in 1 shift instead of it being split into 2 shifts.
