  • Thank you HBB and Hazel for DD1 birthday wishes we had a great time and lots of laughter with the family. We will walk tentatively into Teenagedom.

Ended up buying a cake as a ran out of time - tut tut. Gone now though.

Hazel snowflaking is when I round down my bank accounts and pop pennnies into a selected pot. So happens about once a week and I check my accounts and round them down as I like depends how much money I have. Sometimes it will be pennies and other times pounds but soon mounts up. Lol makes my accounts look tidier.

I think I found the information when I was reading about snowballing when you start with smallest debt, pay it off then put that money to next debt to pay debt of quicker.

I like it and seems to work for me. Hope it helps Hazel and there are no daft questions on here so ask away.xxhttp://static.moneysavingexpert.com/images/forum_smilies/ml-thumb-spin2.gif

  • phew it's been bonkers and sorry for going awol. So we have entered Teendom we are five days in and all fairly relaxed at mo.

13th birthday celebrations went really well and daughter happy.

MSE lost the plot lol but trying to not spend so clueless about NSD but still have money in purse and food in the cupboard.

Rest of week a few appointments for girls but only cost is petrol. Big dog walk planned with pal that makes me laugh whenever I meet her so that's Saturday. But free movie screening in the city 4pm Saturday and meeting up with family for a curry (oh paying) after they have been to footie so quite MSE. Think that is planned spends this week.

Next week no outings or appointments but road trip with DD1 in half term so ideally would like to keep money back for that. Still 21/2 weeks til pay day. Urgh.

Two more pay days to cover Xmas shop. It's doable.

Okay just needing to touch base. Everyone okay?!?xxxxx

Hi C*M thanks for popping over to visit me in MFW land!

Glad the birthday celebrations went well, lovely to have a bit of fun on birthdays.

NSDs are looking on track for the month, it's making this month go quickly so hopefully that payday will come around before you realise. I hadn't thought about Christmas in terms of paydays yet, sounds close when you mention just two to go! I thought I was getting ahead with it but now feel a bit behind, so will have to focus a bit there.

Hope this week's being kind to you. x

  • Just wrote a great long update and its vanished!!!

Breathe, breathe.....its fine I am over it.

I have been reading diaries but not able to update mine as I was remote for a while. Anxious time following GP appt but nothing serious just a bit scary. Will be hospital trip but not as bad as loads just anxiety provoking but it knocked my MSE mojo for a a week or so.

Nothing a good dog walk cant sort out and exercise wise doing great. NSD managed 2/7 last week but hey its better than none at all.:T

So skint I hate 5 week months they are just pants.:(

On a positive note I will have earned £600 overtime this month and sold a few things on FB so £20 to celebrations pot for that.

Overtime money will pay for DD1 and I to enjoy a road trip in the half term hols and a bit aside for Christmas. Can pop £400 to CC and bring it down to £2000 :rotfl:

Its just a long haul isnt it? Good luck MSE friends lets keep the MSE faith- we can do it together.

Hi to HBBB have been checking you updates and hope Mr H will be okay.

Hi to Hazeldreams are you keeping the faith my MSE friend?:money:

  • Hello MSE

Chalking up another NSD for yesterday and delighted when OH home from work before me and on with scrummy tea.

LBM yesterday and asked a friend if she could have the dog for 4 days rather than put him in kennels. It might be a no but she wont mind being asked and it might save me £50.

Managed to bag myself two free armchairs yesterday from FB. Very pleased as I have been looking longingly through various lovely furniture shops and no purchased. So plan is a friend will collect and keep one chair and I will in time get my new free chair recovered beautifully to have pride of place in my living room.:T

Haven't enjoyed October it has felt like such a long month but partly as I didnt budget properly so felt like I have juggled my way through.

Small spends on a few bits of food shopping today and that is in a separate pot of money so going for NSD today too.

    Happy Wednesday friends.xxx:o

  • Hello

been away on a road trip to visit life long friend. budget blown but worked extra last month and this money has just about covered it.

I have updated my signature and the debt is going in the right direction. Its tough most of the time but look forward to slashing the numbers at the end of each month.

So broken £5000 with loan and overall debt is coming under £15000 so some good landmarks achieved:j- hooray.

This month meal planning done but not strict and monthly Mr M delivered cost £138 for essentials. Have managed to work out a meal plan to include weekly meal to include; mince, bacon, sausages and will do ALDI for chicken and have fish left over in freezer. So the meat eaters suitably provided for.

I will use ALDI for chicken, fruit and veg for the rest of the month. If I can remain in £100 then will be very happy- feeding a family of 4 plus 2 cats and a dog.:)

Planning to use TESCO boost for my niece and nephew's Christmas presents one of those flying simulator things but niece raving about it.

Nothing impressive. November challenge is 15 NSD and only managed 9 in October so will put this as personal challenge. Still not bought any books since August 14 so pleased to be beavering through the pile that are in the house. i think I was spending £10-£15 per month on books. I am popping books that look interesting onto my wish list though and if anyone should ask what I would like for Christmas I can let them have a peek.x

New year I will be do the £1 a day saving pot and encouraging OH to save too. Aiming for decent Christmas pot for next year as it will need o include fares to NI.

Still rounding down and dropping into my emergency fund.

    Hope all well.:o

  • So November is here and its a gorgeous day out there. Still in pj's but will get a wiggle on shortly and take the dog for a hearty walk.

NSD yesterday so can update signature 10/16 NSD for October. Not amazing but its okay. Aiming for 15/15 NSD for November.

Checked bank accounts first thing and rounded down to pop a few quid into the emergency pot.

November is my last pay day before Christmas so need to have a little think about what is left to buy. Initially groaned not getting paid before Christmas but at least it doesn't make January any longer.

Friends for tea tonight planning a curry spotted on Good Food recipes online. Wish me luck. So I will probably need to nip to shop for a few bits but as this is allocated food budget I might be able to pencil in 1 NSD later today.

    Happy weekend.:)

Hooray I can chalk up my first NSD of the month. Gawd that took some doing. Signature proudly updated.

Spending over budget and not proud of it but I am working overtime to pay for the spends. Now long term its the change of behavior that needs to occur and I am working on that too.

2 hr wet dog walk today so claiming exercise day taboot.

Considering some batch soup cooking but also thinking about having some me time..........hmmmm will let you know how I get on.

Hope all dry and happy in MSE land.

  • So finally managed to tot up a few NSD which I can contribute to being at work and taking in HM lunch...yum.

Middle of the month always a lull and to be honest slight dull on the debt busting scene. Money is tight and I already know I will be spending overtime money on Christmas gifts already purchased.

My December signature will continue to see the numbers reduce but not as much as I have been able to do which is taking a bit of adjusting to.

Once we are over the Christmas period we have a big birthday for OH and plenty of celebrations planned. I hear the cry scale down from my MSE friends but I will be mindful of spends but will resign myself that debt free might have a few extra months added on to proposed DF date.

Friends for tea tonight and need to find a tasty recipe as my next job.

Foggy up North today so stay safe if you are going out today.xx

Whoa haven't posted in an age but I have been checking the site from time to time. We have had an expensive time and I don't think I could face seeing the figures in black and white hence the lack of posts.

On with debt busting again and need to update my signature. Currently at £12,800 which doesnt look amazing as December I was powering through and had reached £13,603.

Anyway we threw Christmas and Hubby's 50th celebrations into the mix and the debt is still going in the right direction.

Overtime not as lucrative but throwing about £300 at the debt per month.

Bank loan finishes Jan 16 and looking to pull that to Dec 15 with some overpayments - still on that mission.

0% credit card finishes May 2015 so need to pay this balance which i think I can do. Preferring to pay that shift is my mentality at the mo.

Squirreling little pots for emergency, Christmas and hols too.

Okay just needed to set head straight and focus again.
