Good news about the overtime, that's very timely in the run up to Christmas!

I understand what you means about OH but it does make the DF quest a bit lonely. Mr Hbbb is fully involved in our MF quest ... so long as he doesn't have to do anything! :rotfl:

Hope you have an easy weekend after your poorly week. x

Thank you HBB as always. I hear you about OH but going to run alone with support of MSE friends - much better now than the beginning of the week.

Early into October but have a few NSD under my belt so want to keep focussed.

DD 1 13th birthday this week which is exciting. Friends coming for a sleepover so hope to keep in food budget.

Limited money this month so as many NSD as possible and don't think I will be snowflaking much. But keeping the faith.xx

    Morning

Early start and feeling a bit better today so planning to work from home.

Signature updated and realisation that I wont come under £15000 this month but I will next month.

Planning a NSD so that will be the 1st one of the month.

I did update yesterday but gremlins have whizzed off with my info and hidden it in cyber space somewhere. Brief update from yesterday is that it was very spendy with new car insurance/breakdown cover, blind for daughters room. But money back in from underpayment of salary and quidco cash back for car insurance. Car breakdown previously included in bank account so although feels very spendy it could be worse.

Now I would like to use YNAB which would be on the PC but as I do not want anyone else viewing or tinkering with it how do I get it password protected/locked etc? Can anyone help?

Will check in with October challenge today to help me along first one I plan to actively participate in.

Okay onwards and skint already but keeping the MSE faith.x

Hi Celticmiss - I hope you don't mind that I followed you over to your diary? WOW- you've done amazing in such a short space of time! You're an inspiration! I hope you don't mind that I subscribe to follow your journey!

I've been using YNAB for sometime now and I absolutely love it! You can set up your own password to log on to your own account on your pc and then no-one will see YNAB at all. (You may have to refer to your PC handbook to work out how to do this though) Also I have YNAB on my iPhone - you can set a passcode on here too - Its been an absolute godsend for me! It looks like you can track your debt and snowball on it too which is also really fab!

Hope you work it out - we can swap notes then!

    Have a great weekend!

  • Lol thank you Habibiboo but I think we might have to batten down the hatches.

Busy party day for my aunt yesterday and relatively low spend as we shared the meal expense with everyone bringing a dish- terrific day.

Working today and a NSD planned. Aiming for NSD rest of week too- fingers crossed.

Thank you Hazeldreams I am trying to keep it under control. I fall off the wagon sometimes but trying my best.

  • Wow having a busy time at work and home so missed posting my MSE updates. Hope all well in MSE land.

Preparing for DD1 13th birthday celebrations tomorrow and fairly MSE. Family around tomorrow for shared curry tea and cake- oouuhh what a mixture. Friday three of her friends are coming straight from school for a sleep over and pizza followed by more cake. DD1 agreed to not have take away costly pizza but we bought Pizza Exp that were on offer instead and probably saved £10.

We are not expecting a lot of sleep on Friday/Saturday.

October is a long month and thought it would be hard. haven't budgeted as well as I did last month it all feels a little looser which doesn't fit with the October challenge I subscribed to but I havent gone back into my overdraft and the debt is going the right way.

I have decided that sooner or later something unexpected will knock me off course so at the moment I am snowflaking into emergency funds account. At the beginning of the month I didnt think this would be possible but I am going to try it.

Bank account still in credit £220.00 excludes the food budget money so if I can keep with the NSD as much as possible then I have a chance of reaching the end of the month in credit. Tight but doable.

I keep visualizing this time next year my accounts should be greatly reduced.

    Keeping the MSE faith.

Tune I cant get out of my head today is Simon and Garfunkells "feeling groovy." Lol lovely.xx

Birthday preps sound well in hand and as MSE as possible in the circumstances ... hope they all have fun.

It's good to keep looking ahead to that better time which is just around the corner, when all your hard earned money will be yours to play with, not to hand over the the Debt monster!

You'll get there, especially if you're feeling groovy all the way! x

Happy birthday to DD1 - hope she had a great time!

Glad to hear things going good for you - but apologies if this is a silly question, but what is snowflaking?!

  • Thank you HBB and Hazel for DD1 birthday wishes we had a great time and lots of laughter with the family. We will walk tentatively into Teenagedom.

Ended up buying a cake as a ran out of time - tut tut. Gone now though.

Hazel snowflaking is when I round down my bank accounts and pop pennnies into a selected pot. So happens about once a week and I check my accounts and round them down as I like depends how much money I have. Sometimes it will be pennies and other times pounds but soon mounts up. Lol makes my accounts look tidier.

I think I found the information when I was reading about snowballing when you start with smallest debt, pay it off then put that money to next debt to pay debt of quicker.

I like it and seems to work for me. Hope it helps Hazel and there are no daft questions on here so ask away.xx
