Facing my fears and doing it anyway

  • Keeping the faith and becoming slightly obsessed!

Online banking checked daily and phone app updated after each spend or as yesterday added income. Refunded£100 hols deposit so this will cover money for award trip to London in September-hooray.

Returned a book to online store as it fell apart on hols so £6.24 refunded to my account. This is a change of behaviour as previously would not have returned item for a small amount of money. However it is my money and quite frankly I need every penny to have a chance at blowing through this debt.

No spend planned today and will head to work soon.

Managed no chocolate purchases this week and slipped once with a small beer already poured for me last night.

So feel okay so far. Still plenty of money saving things to organise but I will get there. :p

Doing okay. Feeling that September will be when I really do start debt busting- roll on tomorrow when I can view my bank account and see things moving.

September trip to London will be a challenge not to get carried away in the City and be tempted by the bright lights to spend, spend, spend.

Decided that for the time being I will ask OH to keep my credit card to avoid temptation, this way I will need to have a conversation with him before I spend on much wanted credit card purchase.

Have organised sealed pot too and plan to through change in from purse once a week at least. 82 p added today. Think I might stash any road kill in said tin too.

  • Huge thank you for holding my virtual hand through my wobble.x

Today I spent as I planned on fresh fruit n veg for the week and also added bottle of prosecco that I plan to stash for Christmas/OH 50th celebrations.

So I am counting today as a no frivolous spend day and swerved the option to.. Not planning on spending again til Wed when D1 heads back to school.

Appreciating the MSE forum for support and focus.xxx

    Dear Diary,

1st September 2014 and here is where I feel my journey to be DF begins. All bills, DD and SO have flown the bank account today. The OD is cleared and I have a whole £67 to my name. Now this will not cover me the rest of the month but my overtime pay will go in this week and boost my account £400.

I need to stick to my plan now and hold tight. OD being paid off in September was my goal. I think when my OT is paid to the account I will downgrade the account to a none fee paying account. This should improve my balance by £25 per month as long as I stay out of the overdraft. I will need to review this account in the future and check if this is the best for me.

Thinking the same as Mrs Save but appreciate comments: Should I have any surplus at the end of the month do I split the amount between emergency funds and debt or throw it all at the debt?

    Thanks.x

Gawd i could kick myself! Just reviewing my accounts and this is part of the reason I get into this mess-basic maths is shocking!!!

Anyway I have amended signature accordingly and still happy with my behaviour changes that will help me achieve a DF status. Just going to be a long haul.

My bank telephoned today asking if I would like to add my CC @ 20% interest to my loan @ 11%. I said NO and promptly transferred the outstanding £11326.13 to an existing b'card offering 0% til Oct 15. I think I have done the right thing as the fee was £38.25 and feel sure that I will save on interest. Gawd I wish I was better at maths.

Well OD paid today and CC will be no longer. The B'card CC only exists as a pay back account I have destroyed the card ages ago.

What I now need to do is plan to repay £2943.59 asap.

Keeping the faith and staying focused.

Not spent today and have all meals ready for the week.

I cant seem to do anything fancy with my signature with colours or striking debt so sorry.

  • Credit card secure now in OH wallet. Hopefully this will rest there until I feel confident to either cut up or manage it better.

  • Best laid plans wobbled off track. Cancelled payments still withdrawn grrrr. Kids accessing itunes acct at 69p a time- quick word should holt that.

Waiting for OT money to land into account to make life feel a bit rosier. So back into the overdraft but hopefully not for long.

NSD planned again. Lunch made and heading to work.

DD2 back to school today- hooray. DD1 back tomorrow.xx
