perhaps worth holding onto the pair, ScoobyZ... and then asking for a repeat deal from MBNA, or applying for a new BT card. and merging the 2 or 3 limits on to that card.
then you can think about a different spending card altogether:)

Going to clear my zeros this year. Had them a couple of years and looking to get the monthly payments down on everything.

Have a 7/7/7 plan this year to pay off 7k on mortgage, 7k on CC (0%) and save 7k, and am on track :)

If you've going to leave the Amazon card, it looks like you can request/redeem your outstanding points value using their online portal, which you need to do before closing the account.....unless you want to be migrated in which case they will automatically send your evoucher.

i have gone for the barclaycard amex / visa deal
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • With reference to comment thread 61, i was under the impression that the MBNA card replacing the Amazon card has no rewards programme or points.
    Am i missing something?

Correct - the MBNA card has no reward points etc.

My current fixed rate mortgage term ends on 1st Nov this year, when I will be paying off and completing my mortgage.

I was looking to pay off my mortgage via my Amazon credit card £5k at a time, and pay the card off in full straight away, rinse and repeat until the mortgage was complete.

This would have net me around £530 in Amazon vouchers!!!

Perfect timing Amazon/MBNA!! Completely messed my plans up!!! Now I need to look for another card - Tesco seems to be the next best choice with its 'Boost' rewards etc - just used £17.50 in points to get £70 in 'Fun Day Out' vouchers, which will gain the family free entry into Paradise Park (if the weather improves!!). So looks like thats what I will end up doing now - would have preferred Amazon vouchers though :(

    Incorrect.

Have you actually spoke to MBNA?

Two people on the thread have from what I've seen, myself included, who have both been told the amazon card will be replaced by a reward points card, just not the MoreRewards branded cards.

...but it is rather perplexing that they made no mention of this in the letter, which is why people are not convinced.

And actually someone did say earlier that some people will get the MoreRewards cards while some will get a Mastercard, so MBNA aren't exactly making it clear.

Yes, but assertions saying that they will not have rewards are just not true.

If anyone wants to know, it's a freephone number and the chap on the phone volunteered the information to me without me asking about the new card having a rewards programme.
