Tentatively want to give this another go after months of absence. Looking down DH and I's joint account statement, by far the main expenditure is food!! It is actually ridiculous! So I am going to try a new strategy...aiming for £60 per week...so I'm going to lift £240 out of the cash machine and keep it in a separate purse to be used only for food shopping. I'm going to meal plan and attempt to do one big shop a week with as few extra at the corner shop as possible! So please put me down for £240 for September please!
I do the same, get the cash out and only use that. Towards the end of the month, when I have overspent, I do sometimes use the debit card (using money I haven't got) but it makes it all so much more real and definitely help keep the spends down.2017 GC O-£93.46/£160; S-£136.26/£160; A-£130.55/£160; J-£47.12/£160;

Hi,
I really need to get back into this after a few months of lots spending, things need to be reigned in!
Please could I be put down for £400please? I'm hoping to get down to about the £300 mark, but think we're way off that at the moment, so will work down0 -
Could you put me down for £175 for two adults please.
Just don't seem to be able to get under £200 lately, and have drifted back into buying lunches every day for the three days I work.
I have a full freezer, and pretty full cupboards so I need to do a menu plan.0 -
Hi
May I join too? I desperately need to save as I have debts, a mortgage and I'm work as a contractor so I don't have a secure job. I hope we can get by on £320. That's for 3 people with adult sized appetites and also a very small cat.
I'm hoping that it will cover all our food, cleaning materials, toilet rolls etc. The cupboards and the freezer are almost empty so not much there to fall back on.

Spent €61.37 today, freezer and cupboards are now chock a block.....if only I could keep OH out of the shops I think I would do much better, but how do you tell a 74 year old who has no hobbies that he cant come with you ??? I reckon best I can do is organise dinner for 2/3 days every week and use up freezer stash before he gets on the case.

Hello! May I join in again?! I tried um.... Last year I think ....but fell off the bandwagon very quickly.... Hoping I can do it this time as I really need to start saving. Have already done a shop since the month started so have some stuff in. Aiming for 150 for the rest of the month (till the 23 sept) we are 2 adults 2 kiddies, 1 cat and all veggie (not the cat, blood thirsty beastie!!) and we eat a lot of Indian food. Have the most GIANT courgette to use up if anyone has ideas of what to do with one I'd be very happy!!!GC 193/1500

KrustyLouise - nowhere near ready, doing a lot of homemade bits so still got loads to sort out. we're having 55 to the day and just 5 extras for the evening so not too big. I'll head over to the wedding board now so we don't invade the grocery challenge!May Grocery Challenge -£216/4000

Eek I spent £20 in Aldi. I only went in for a few bits of fruit and veg. Glad I'm starting on the 1st. Definitely sticking to online shopping for September - less temptation.0
