    Limbo, limbo!!!

Setting the bar a squeak lower. Only a measly £1, but I want to go in the right direction and not have any pressure on my OH. We're changing diets, trying to increase our veggies and trim down. :j

I want to hit this target and feel super confident for Autumn!
    Keep reading books!

Hi. Long time MSE lurker but new to posting. Hoping by sharing my first GC here it'll help me stick to it. When filling in budget plans I always estimated I spent £400/mth on supermarket shopping but checking my bank statement it turned out to be £550-600!!! Whoops - and explains why I'm always overdrawn :-/

Please put me down for £380 for the month (29/08 - 30/09). This is for 2 adults, 1 child and one baby in nappies. It's a bit hopeful but I'm aiming high and only going to the cheaper stores from now on, goodbye mr T and all your tempting tat :-)
  • Right I'm going to try this. I spent £250 in a month so I'm going to try and equal that. So £250 for September. That's for two adults and a toddler all food and household things.

I am back in again this month. Our food budget allowance is £500 (this is for food/cleaning stuff/toiletries/dog food etc). This is for me, DH, DD1 (11 - never stops eating and is veggie) DD2 (10) and woof.

I would like to make sure I stay within budget and if I could knock money off it that would be a bonus. My month with start on 1st Sept and the plan is to eat healthy meals.

Off for a mooch around the recipes pages for some ideas.
  • Very happy. Our shopping this week came to less than what I had typed in in my last post on here. I wanted the grocery shopping to come to £50 or less a week.

We have just got back from Aldi, a smaller shopping trolley full to the brim and it only cost us £48.05 :)

So my ideal goal at £50 per week has been met

Sign me up for £290 this month please :) We just missed our £300 budget last month (first try) and I think we can make our target this time using the tricks we learnt last time around! As ever it includes 2 adults, 1 child, 2 cats and general household goods (such as washing up liquid, cleaning stuff) as well as food for us all.

Our month runs 30 Aug - 27 Sept.

    Good luck to all!! :T

    Hey everyone!

I mucked up in August. Combination of using the morries vouchers, and going shopping more often than once a week...

Still, onwards and upwards. Did well on july's budget of £1pppd, so will stick to that. Should then be £90, but we're away for a weekend, and ch are with their dad for two weekends, so I'm going to aim for £80 for September.

Will be hard, but will adjust the fifth weekend's shop, splitting it between sept and oct.

Had sausage casserole for dinner, feeding the bf as well as us three. He even had seconds, which was going to be my lunch tomorrow!! Still, I cut up the eight sausages so he thought he had more than he did!!

First shop for sept will be on Sunday, have to spend £20 or less. Should be fine as long as I go back to sticking to my list!! Will be back to one shop per week though, as back to work next week...

    Night all,

    Hello,

May I join in please? The household is 3 adults (DH, DS and myself) and a cat. DD visits regularly but does not always eat, so her food costs are minimal. I would like to aim for £300 hoping I am not too ambitious in my saving ideal.

Just one thing, DH and I will be away for 5 days in September, visiting relatives in Scotland, and we cannot be too careful with spend while there as we are guests in their home. So there will be a bit of extra for gift giving and food contribution I suppose. How do holidays get accounted for in the budget?

The same will happen in October when I have to visit family in Italy.

Thank you for helping a grocery challenge newbie!

Forgot to add, staring on Monday 1st September.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Tentatively want to give this another go after months of absence. Looking down DH and I's joint account statement, by far the main expenditure is food!! It is actually ridiculous! So I am going to try a new strategy...aiming for £60 per week...so I'm going to lift £240 out of the cash machine and keep it in a separate purse to be used only for food shopping. I'm going to meal plan and attempt to do one big shop a week with as few extra at the corner shop as possible! So please put me down for £240 for September please!
    Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
    My savings: £4878.54/£7000
    Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
    Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)
