  • Hi .... Been MIA since ???? Been busy busy busy and not keeping up with my MSE threads

I originally declared an annual target of £5200 I believe ... Circumstances have now changed - gained a husband  and 2 cats so now have 7 mouths to feed instead of 4

So I would like to start a new budget until the end of 2014 of £100 a week - starting Sunday 31/08/14

    18 weeks = £1800

    Seal pot challenge no 7- :) # 331 Saved £140 SPC - Target £30
    Grocery challenge - £100 a week
    Weekly Spend Challenge - £40 :)
  • I'd like to join in please :).

My budget is currently £300, so I'm going to go with that. My month runs from 29/08 - 26/09. This is for 2 adults, 3 children, 2 cats and a small dog :).

Last month we managed to get everything for around £250, but I wasn't keeping count much as we were away as a family, then I was away for a bit, so everything was all over the place!

    Back to 'normality' now.

I'm in properly this month. My usual budget is £300 but we nearly always have little trips to the shop on top of that which aren't accounted for, so I am aiming to stop that this month.

As I somehow managed to come in at £240 for August, I am going to be brave and declare for £250 September. This is for me, my husband, our 10 month old son and a very fussy cat. This includes cat food plus nappies, wipes and formula, but DS doesn't drink much formula now so it lasts quite a long time and I have reusable nappies too, so mix between them and disposables for when DS is at childminders and I am at work. My month will run from 31st Aug to 30th Sep.

I'm determined my first month will be a success as I have got very lazy since DS arrived and use a lot more pre-prepared meals instead of cooking from scratch. Now autumn and winter are getting closer, we can start having mroe stews and casseroles so this will also save money hopefully. Can't wait to dig the slow cooker out :)

Need to get back on top of things before our new baby arrives in January and the chaos starts again!!

  • Joining up for September and changing how my months run now my income is coming in differently. This month will run from 5th September to 2nd October and I am aiming for £320

I've managed to mess up as my August month ends on 31st but my new month starts on 5th so I've got to stretch my budget an extra 4 days and I have £40 to do it and it will take me over my original budget. Might have to take from another "pot" and pay it back.

Hi. I have not followed the GC for a while but do continue with my own planning and budget and do keep a record of my spending on my signature. I always feel a bit 'new year ish' about September when the kids go back to school! Back to following good ways, etc!

So, I'm back in and our budget for me, DH, DD1 (10) & DD2 (8) is £140. This is for all groceries, toiletries and cleaning products. I meal plan but have changed to weekly planning rather than monthly so that I can make use of YS items I buy. It also means if we have a change of plan, and end up with a meal in the 'bank', I can carry it over to the next week quite easily.

Our month always runs from the 25th to the 24th. Meal plan done, as well as shop for this week.

Good luck all, and thank you to all of you for your input. :)

Crikey hadn't updated my siggy since April. Keeping up with the posts though. So that's what I have left till the end of the year which looks okay as I'm about 7% ahead of what I had expected to spend. No doubt that will disappear at xmas.

  • If it's okay please may I join in again? I am going to give myself a budget of £250 to feed all 5 of us.

DH is at home at the moment due to being out of work so we are really tightening our belts. The cupboards and freezer are full to bursting so I am hoping to use them up to make way for Christmas. My aim is £50 a week and I am hoping to keep the spare £50 for any offers/RTC items that I can use.

I take out grocery cash at the start of the month and then use it for each shop. I keep a note of all my receipts and add them on to my signature as I record them. That way, I can try and keep on top of my monthly totals!

I meal plan for each week but have to make sure there are enough cereals & pancakes for the rest of the family because although they have to 'go with the flow' for lunches and dinners, they do help themselves to breakfast, and I can not, so easily, talk them into my cheaper, healthier breakfasts!

    Meal plan for week is.....
Tues - eggs on toast/Ham sandwiches, crisps & fruit/salmon pasta
Wed - fruit & yogurt/cheese on toast or sandwiches/HM Pizza
    Thurs - cereal & fruit/Ham sandwiches & fruit/Onion & red wine pasta
Fri - Eggs on toast/chicken pasta salad

On Friday afternoon we head off on a 2 night camping break with a whole host of families from the kids' school. I am sure that this will be a really good break but we are not seasoned campers and a little apprehensive! I've promised a lactose free lasagne as my contribution. DD1 is newly lactose intolerant and it would seem that a couple of the adults on the trip are too. So, I will have to get some of the ingredients for that later in the week.
