Arval Vehicle Leasing attempting to get parking charge from me

Sorry, when I said report I meant take further action by proceeding with a Small Claim. I'll give it one last email and see what pathetic answer they come up with!
P.S. It would go on my monthly invoice which is taken by Direct Debit from my bank account so I wouldn't be able to go to the card issuer as it's not a credit card they're taking the money from. I may however change that part to say I will cancel my direct debit and go through the courts.0 -
Have they already taken money from you relating to this then?
If I were you I would cancel the direct debit and tell them you will be paying the monthly invoices by cheque until they give you an undertaking not to charge private parking invoices to your account.Je suis Charlie.0 -
As of yet, no. The money goes out of my account every 15th of the month.
Good idea, I will do that!0 -
It may be a condition of the contract that you pay by DD, but if they throw this at you then you can simply respond that (i) you have good reason to believe that they intend to breach the contract by charging sums which are not due therefore you are simply protecting yourself and (ii) you will be happy to re-instate the DD once you have received their undertaking not to debit any sums relating to this or any other private parking invoice.Je suis Charlie.0

its known as a chargeback and they cannot direct debit any unauthorised amount from you without prior warning or consent and the prior warning would be by snail mail normally (a few weeks before) in writing , you can dispute any unauthorised debits from your bank account, a direct debit doesnt allow them to take whatever they like, whenever they like , you can also dispute any figure not previously agreed in advance0
-
Not quite ... the DD guarantee system allows for variable DD values. They need to give at least 3 clear working days notice of any change to a DD amount. (Not "a few weeks", and the notification can be via email if that communication method has been previously agreed; e.g. an email to notify that the new bill is ready. This is how TalkTalk operate).0

Yes but if you dispute the amount they are not allowed to take it.0
-
ok m8, thanks for clarifying that aspect , so its slightly different than a chargeback, but still achievable and you can definitely dispute it0

Oh absolutely. I was merely clarifying the subtle differences regarding how DDs work.0 -
I always receive a monthly invoice from arval about a week before the month DD so I would expect this to include the additional fee, but either way they won't be getting it!0
