IA, why don't you just ring Argos and tell them that unfortunately you haven't been able to find childcare for your children, and ask if you can rearrange the interview for another day. Possibly mention the fact that it's due to your usual babysitter having to go to a funeral (this will show them that it really is a one-off and you're not normally going to struggle with childcare).

Most companies would be quite understanding and try and find a more suitable day/time. They are usually careful about not being seen to discriminate against you because you have children. It's worth a try at least. Good luck, I hope you manage to sort something out.

  • Sar,
I agree with Snaggles re. calling Ar-goose and arranging to change interview.

Secondly, tell your energy supplier to take a long walk off a short pier.

Come on girly! I know you have it in you!!!!

Is there a creche in a nearby shopping mall etc that you could put the girls in for a couple of hours while you are having the interview? Might cost a wee bit, but would give you the "space" to go to Argos?

Alternatively, while you are in the interview, park them outside the door, with little Lewis, a couple of dirty nappies on, a sign that says "homeless and hungry" and a paper cup for loose change to be thrown in.............

  • Hi Sarah,

I normally lurk on your thread as am not a DFW as such but really find your thread compelling reading. You're doing fantastically.

Regarding the interview, I work in recruitment for a large company and just wanted to say there should be no issue at all with Argos changing your interview. It happens extremely regularly and people often have much less valid reasons. As snaggles said mention that it's because your usual childminder is at a funeral and there shoudn't be any problem. Call them as soon as you can though because the earlier you call them the less inconvenience it will be(I've had people call up 5 minutes before an interview is due to start to postpone!!)

Good Luck I'm sure you'll do great.
