but that 6k was spread over a year... the bill would need paying then and there...

Don't forget that £1k was just a figure off the top of my head as an amount that would be 'really bad' - it might not be anywhere near that. Could you pay the bill with one of the credit cards or have they been cut up?

apparently it's misfiring really badly but there's nothing obviously seriously wrong at the min but the AA guy is still checking it over..

Ste said that apparently the guy took out one of the spark plugs and there was tonnes of steam coming out of it... :eek:

I was actually going to say this......dammit!!! I would have maybe been right for the first time ever!! Just didn't want to jinx you by saying 'oh it might be as simple as this....'

Stu's car misfired once and burnt out a spark plug and a bit of wire - no major problem to fix, it cost a bit but not a lot (bit vague I know, but it wasn't so painful that the figure is engraved on my brain, put it that way).
