IA's 'Does my bum look big in this Debt?' Diary

Imagine the worst possible case scenario - repairs costing lets say £1k - now look back at how quickly you have repaid the last £1k worth of debt. Yes, it would put you back but only for a few months. Your diary wouldn't be your diary without one last bump in the road before you succeed.
Make a cup of tea, cuddle the kids and say 'I'm effing Immoral Angel, you will not defeat me pesky debt' (cover Ash's ears for the swearing bit...lol)."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -

Hi Sar so sorry to hear about the car and everything else. Please don't shoot me down in flames but why don't you just target Barclaycard this month ? Take some pressure of yourself ? You have done so well why not aim for end of Nov for Egg ? Piece of cake once you start at Argos ! XXNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

OH IA! I could cry for you hun. Nevermind, they say things come in threes - so that is your ebay postage, your interview trauma and your car. That should be it for a while. Good news on SIL taking morning off for you. Hope the car is not too expensive.
You will get through this because you are strong and have done so much already. In the grand scheme of things this is a minor setback. So it might take a couple more months to pay off your debts - you weren't originally expecting to be debt free this month anyway so nothing lost.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Because you are setting yourself unrealistic targets, that are really really hard to achieve.... your original DF date was Nov 2008, it doesn't matter in the long term if it's Oct 2007 or Jan 2008. A measure of the success of a business project/challenge is the state it leads an organisation/the people in to meet the next challenge. Look at the bigger overall picture, don't live on the equivalent of slim fast shakes. The Oct 2007 is an *artificial* date of your making, money is only useful for living. Cars sometimes break, it's not the end of the world. So what if the date gets put back as long as Ste can long term still make it to work, his doing well at the job is long term bringing in a lot more than the car will cost. You're doing this so in the long term you won't live hand-to-mouth and the bumps will be ironed out. Think how bad it would be if this had happened this time last year. You've got the interview and that'll bring new possibilities. It's a pain but in the long term it'll be ok because of all the stuff already paid out and because you are nearly sorted. You can't change bad luck but you can change your reaction to it. It's a little bump in life it's a bit of money and a stupid metal box, the kids aren't ill, Ste wasn't hurt by it failing in a dangerous way.... the organisation is still fit for purpose for the next project....0 -
