I can see where matt is coming from in a way, but I am by no means going to let that put me off, I have spoken to the JCP & they said that I can claim benefits to top up my hours if I need it, which hopefully I won't, so I will be no worse off I work (on ZHC) than I was out of work, Possibly I will be better off if I do more than 30 hours a week, as then I can get WTC too
So I don't see the problem here, I have a job and no-one is going to stop me doing my job, as I say I don't expect to be frying chicken for the rest of my life, Baby steps are better than standing still and letting the world pass you by, or sitting at home drinking beer & smoking drugs all day while the benefits roll in, while you have done nothing to earn them, except attend the JCP once a forghtnight and maybe do a few training courses
If anyone wants a little background on me then let me know, I have no secrets to hide, everything is there to be known, I believe that honesty is the best policy and I stick to that0 -
I'll assume that that us a genuine question, rather than you being facetious.
It benefits the employee as it allows them to be given a job where otherwise the business could not support one. Any practice that lets working hours be matched with demand will allow people to be employed who otherwise could not be.
You are comparing a zero-hours contract with a permanent one on the same hourly wage. For a role that will not support that job, that's a nonsensical comparison. The two choices are zero hours (that is none guaranteed, but possibly plenty done), or no job at all.
You believe no job at all is better, everyone else disagrees with you. Everyone else on here is better placed to discuss work than you. The two facts are not unconnected.
Why can't you accept as long-term unemployed, that your views on employment will necessarily be uninformed?
If you are guaranteed at least £74 per week, then you would have a point.
However, I would be doubtful that I would always get that amount per week - partly for the reasons you have given.
Why would I want to make myself worse off (even if only for the period of time until JSA payments catch up with the shortfall). That can be a considerable period of time.
It would cause me too much worry.0 -
That is the new Tesco - side note liking the flowery pattern haha - though that says 2015 it's actually November this year.
Topaz this might be an answer to your travelling troubles: http://www.syw2w.co.uk/ "loan scooters to people who live in South Yorkshire and have difficulties getting to work, training or college due to a lack of suitable transport. Prices start from £40 a month and include all the training and equipment you need to get on the road. We insure all scooters and maintain them for you. " its £60 a month for work travel and scooters don't take much petrol to fill them up either0 -
I must say I have not seen that before, thanks GalaxyStar
I'll look into that now0 -
Not every job is 9-5, Monday to Friday
Some posters on here seem to feel that it is their right to have a job that they actively like, that fits in with their social life, on the terms that they'd choose, and to stay on benefits until it comes along.
Eventually, of course, reality hits, and they have to take a part time job selling paint.0 -

There is no problem, and you should absolutely take it.
Again, well done, on the job, and on the determination. With your attitude, you'll end up doing well, and going far.0 -

No-one said that you weren't, but maybe you are being a little picky with what you want from a job, a job is a job, I could not care less if I was manager of a global corporation, or cleaning toilets with a toothbrush, its a job at the end of the day, & if it ZHC so be it0
