Is this descrimination legal?

I assume that you are alleging that there's previously been racism in the opposite direction, but that seems pretty unlikely, just like the lack of women working on bin lorries is not down, on the whole, to sexism.
Please cite your references for this research please, unless of course it is something you "reckon" and "everybody knows"....2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
Being of a non white race in the UK not necessary means that the person is from a disadvantaged background.
So here is the question. Who is more of a disadvantaged background?
Is it the son of a GP Dr Patel or a son of a binman John Smith?
Is it a daughter of a Lawyer Mr Chaudhury or a daughter of a factory worker Lisa Jones?
I am for the different initiatives and schemes to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds sch as poor parents and orphans. People who may not have money to go to the Uni etc. This is regardless of their race.
The company in my OP would rather take on a non white son of the Solicitor than white son of Binman as according to them the solicitor's son is more disadvantaged.
Now to me this is a racism and nothing else.0 -

It doesn't matter whether people consider it's racism or not; the law allows for positive action (not positive discrimination).
You can't give a job to someone because they're black / white / Asian, but you can promote schemes or opportunities that redress the balance of diversity. It's a balance that needs redressing in some industries because it's been caused by years of direct and indirect racism, often unseen. The last set of statistics I saw for large London based organisations showed that although a representative sample of BAME applicants applied for jobs, a massively disproportionately small number got through to interview, and even fewer to obtain a job.
Does it feel wrong if you are white and want that internship? Yes. I was in that position once, and missed an opportunity in PR because it was only black or Asian people who could apply. I was very annoyed at the time. But take it off the personal level and look across the industry and it's hugely biased against black and Asian people. And when that happens, organisations are allowed to provide opportunities (not permanent jobs) to give certain groups a better *chance* at getting in.
Like it or not, it's entirely legal.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
Bit like the Bullingdon set in the cabinet. Anything that sensibly redresses the jobs for the boys mentality is fine by me.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Not really, just after years of everyone saying that everyone should be treated the same regardless of colour/ethnicity/gender, everyone says 'fine, no problems with that, BUT if you are black/homosexual/female/traveller etc we are going to treat you differently and preferentially.
Equality means just that, everyone being treated equally. In the case of OP that is not the case 'we want the best person, so long as that person is from an ethnic minority NOT white british.
How long do you think an advert would last is (to use an example) White British men are underrepresented in 100m sprinting in athletics we want to to train people to sprint but you must be white male0 -

equality on a national level can't be achieved by action at an individual level because of all the conscious and subconscious bigotry. Positive action is tough luck for some individuals, but more balanced for the country as a whole. If unhappy, blame the sexists and racists who have gone before you.
There is however a whole internet of education on this topic so I'll leave it there, interested people will be able to find it on their own.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -

This has truly surprised me.
It does appear that blatant racism is acceptable as part of some sort of social engineering exercise.
I do feel rather uncomfortable about the possible consequenses.0
