Huge hugs to Strewth, Tinyshoes and Snap's neighbour.

Looking for some culinary inspiration please. We had roast chicken for lunch today and usually have it cold with chips or fried potatoes and salad the next day, but I fancy doing something different with it tomorrow. Trouble is, I have no idea what! Any ideas please?

This is a lovely way to use up leftover meat http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1848/barneys-monday-night-rice

The reviews say it tastes like Singapore rice from the takeaway - never had it myself. I use whatever veggies I have in the fridge' usually peppers and mushrooms. Even OH likes it and he is a fussy eater

I've just won a perfectly sized greenhouse on eBay for my allotment :j

    :j
I always say I've won it, I bought it sounds pooey in comparison :D
I just tried to win some long tall Sally purple skinny jeans and some rude beggar trumped me
I've been watching them for a week :(
My daughter and her friend did it today, hilarious! If you listen to the video you'd think they were on a roller coaster or something with the high pitched screams they emitted!

    :rotfl:
It's great fun and for a great cause. I had the pleasure in dumping a bucket of water over a friend yesterday. I'm guessing she's going to be savouring the moment when she gets to do it back :rotfl:

    Fantastic!!!!!

We've just put one up in the garden, a 10x6. :)

Nowt growing in it except lettuce and wheatgrass.

What are you starting off in it?

I need ideas for late crops :)

French beans grow very well in the greenhouse late summer/autumn. I also move my herbs into the greenhouse late summer and they last longer than outside. Baby carrotts will grow indoors right through the autumn. You can also plant your broad beans and peas and leave them in the greenhouse until spring then plant out for an early crop.
And not forgetting the baby potatoes for Christmas, mine will be planted very shortly.
I grow salad in mine pretty much year round. I have 2 and heat one when it's very cold. The other is used for storing half hardy plants etc.
The possibilities are endless :D Good luck

Well done on your greenhouse too QOC :T

I've sowed carrot seed in a raised bed last week. No growth showing yet!!

    I'm too late for everything.

I love kale so might try that.

    Shame about your compost :(

Paint chipping a would be pretty hazardous to grow stuff in.

I've got a little composter. Its doing so well that I can't be bothered with the separate wormery.

The worms on the compost bin are totally mind blowing!!!

I always throw the chickens the biggest ones when I'm taking some soil out :)

Carrots take ages to germinate but once they do, they go for it!

I bought kale pre grown from b&q, as was the broccoli. Come to think of it, most of my growing stuff has come the same way this year :o but in my defence, I only got the keys at the beginning of June, mid way through the growing season so I've been up against it right from the start. But next year will be a million times more MSE :j

Bless that is a lot to pay out x

Yes I accidentally opened an excel chart from this time lady year and we are no richer than we were this time last year.

You could get very depressed thinking about this

The main expense in the last year has been replacing my car that went terminal last November but that was actually money saving as it had already failed on me 3 times so it was long over due replacing
