Apologies for the question but what do mortgage brokers consider as being too many commitments - is it when you have a car loan or bank loan and balances on your credit cards as well.
Trying to understand the mortgage system now and it all seems like gibberish.
Do the brokers still charge you even though they turn you down?
I don't know about the broker fee as we didn't use one.
As I understand it, and from what I was told when we bought our house last year, basically financial commitments would be anything that would mean your money going elsewhere than your mortgage. It could be childcare, car loan, CC, anything that reduces the amount of available money you have each month. The problem is that they'll also look at potential sources of credit (even if you're not currently using them) eg unused CC, larger than strictly necessary overdraft etc. as they have to consider what would happen to your ability to pay your mortgage if you did suddenly decide to spend all the available credit you have.0 -
