Afternoon everyone, finally stopped raining, sheets on the line, cats all seem to be drinking and taking literally a mouthful of food so hopefully feeling a bit better :)

We went to B & M - got pancake mix for 5p, Blue Dragon stir fry sweet chilli and garlic stir fry sauce - useful for using up the veggie mountain, small cans of crushed pineapple for 19p - useful for pancakes fillings or adding to smoothies.
Also Jamie Oliver thyme lemon and bay salt grinders for 10p - label in German :)

Karlie, Anon, any other experts in this field, I would like some advise please. Ive got 2 tsb classic plus accounts and been trying to open a classic so I can give the details to Halifax to get the £100 switch. Ive heard zilch from tsb neither by email, post and just checked account and its not there. Just wondering if I should hang on a bit longer to see if I hear anything by post, or try again to open a classic account.

    tia :)

Depends when you did it - my experience opening with TSB was the first opened straight away, the second took a few days to be processed. If it hasn't appeared yet, they will still be processing (either to accept or reject) so I would not be trying another one yet (assuming you went all the way to the end of the application process).

Hi Karlie , I ve just switched a current account to the Halifax but if I want the £5 every month will I now need to open some other account s to recieve the £750 to go back and forth and also set up two dd accounts or can that be done anytime soon Thanks :D

The Halifax needs to received at least £750 each month - you can just leave it there if your only account and have that much coming in, or could potentially open another account elsewhere depending on what balance you will have each month. No real benefit keeping the money in Halifax once the £5 is triggered as it does not get interest - better to have Nationwide, TSB, Lloyds and/or Santander for positive balances (but check details of any new accounts and always consider your credit rating!).

Yes need 2 DD - T Finance savings accounts are very easy to set up.

    Hiya.

Do you have another current account? If so, then transfer the £750 from there to your Halifax account on a monthly basis to earn the £5. This can be done with one payment (1 x £750) or several smaller payments (2 x £375, 3 x £250 etc.)

Yes, you'll ALSO need 2 different DD mandates paid out every month to earn the £5. This could be water, gas & & elec, council tax etc. However, most of us on the banking forum use these for the 123 Santander Current account to earn cashback. ;)

Tesco Bank allow you to set up DDs quite easily with their savings account. Or you could use PayPal.

It wasn't me but I do eggy bread whenever one of my gang comes to stay - it does make the kitchen a bit stinky though :)
