I'd probably let that one go.

As you were spotted when you were putting the money in then I'm guessing the transaction wasn't fully completed?

Either way, for a few quid, I don't think it would be worthwhile to raise your profile there. The SSS and CS assistant are likely to forget about the whole situation; an email to Tosco HQ would filter down to the store and would remind the staff members.

Also, by writing to Tosco, it'll mean that the store is less likely to have 1p items in the future. e.g. manager training staff members to be more alert, SELs changed properly etc.

    ;)

Yes probably you are right, some battles are just not worth fighting.

Yes the transaction was complete and I had put the coins in and I had a receipt and I did say this to the SSS but she said I'd done it whilst she was talking to me. No I didn't stop as I was in mid flow.

This is not a very big store so I think the management are very on the ball anyway, only once before got 1p things from there. Its not got wall scanners or hand scanners so there is never a way of knowing beforehand.

I have had unpleasant dealings with this particular SSS before (your SSS you cant choose unlike your till person) as she also worked on tills - this was a store that was taken over by T when a chain ceased to trade in the UK and converted about 15 years ago now and they also took over the staff, most of who are still on the tills -must be nearly 70 or over now but you don't have to retire now at the official age of retirement.
In the good old MOC days she was a till to avoid.

Both Mansfield Toscos are now demanding and marking receipts.

Thanks for that. Do they mind if they're already marked by Asda?

As far as I'm concerned, if you've paid for them, they're yours.

So the fact that they then forced you to give them back is terrible. I think anything before you've paid you just have to suck up and accept. But you are surely within your rights to keep items you've paid for, whatever the price?

If I were you I'd write a polite email to head office/customer services but I'm sure there are plenty who wouldn't for the sake of keeping their profiles low. I'm gobby so I wouldn't care as much :)

Customer service, a very old fashioned thing but it something I really take not of - in Waitrose you get it and even in Asda they have their "Happy to Help" policy.
Tesco though is a law unto itself (and sainsburys as well) - it has been better, the young student staff are lovely but there is still this nasty element

Normally I stand up for myself but I am sitting on some CC points its taken me over a year to accumulate and I cant decide wether to convert or not - if and when I decide my points would be used up and I would have nothing to loose but in the meantime I don't really want to risk them by putting my head above the parafeit

T's do seem to have the worst trouts.

Maybe next time you spot some 1p items throw a few filler items in the mix so it is less obvious that you have the 1p items ;)

A question please, what would other people do in my situation - I had a Tesco Finest trouting this afternoon?

Yesterday I managed to get some 1p items - not a normal event, only done this twice before and this was years back.

Today I wanted to get the vegetable nuggets for 70p and COS and OH wanted something so I thought I would see if I could get more of the 1p items.

OH got his shopping and went off to the normal till.

No veggie nuggets  but I got five of the 1p items and went through SS. I was swift scanning but the SSS who was chatting to the basket till girl still managed to spot it. Stopped me in mid flow as I was putting coins in the box. Took items off me, called the general TSS over who went to look and remove the others from the shelf. The SSS, a very unpleasant person, told me that there must be something wrong with the items that they were recalled - an untruth, still in date. I was then taken to CC to have the 5p refunded - no comment was made en route or by the person at CS.

So do I just build a bridge and get over it or do I send an email or put a facebook private message.

This is not an easy store but the younger staff are fine, even so I've not been a frequent visitor recently as Mr T does not love me anymore, no points in the mailings and rubbish MOCs and no till spits so I have no incentive to go there apart from the usual look around the reduced cabinets. So my profile is quite low - my only worry is safe guarding my points total

As they had to refund the 5p I guess you had already put the money in the box. You'd paid what they asked and the goods were yours - they had no right to take them off you ! It sounds as though this is frequently a 'difficult store' so, if you don't mind doing it I would certainly kick up a fuss - they can hardly get worse. Think I would have a go at the store manager first - followed by Facebook and e mails. Depends how stroppy you feel !

    Hmmmm...you had the receipt?

From your OP I thought you were stopped midway through putting the coins in; thus, the transaction not being completed.

If the transaction was complete then they shouldn't have interfered. Re: emailing HQ....guess it depends on whether it's a frequent store you visit or want some DTD goldies in the future....only you can decide.

These are the best ones, when you get something you actually need and use plus get a APG as well :T
I just got home and here are the results of my Tena shop in Mr T (v S).

I got a PP for £9.03 (lost a few pennies on my veg comparisons).

TENA PROTECTIVE UNDERWEAR DISCREET MED 12S £7.08 £2.50

TENA PROTECTIVE UNDERWEAR DISCREET LGE 10S £7.08 £2.50

You can get a free Tena Sample and coupon by signing up here, but might take a few weeks to arrive?
    http://www.tena.co.uk/women/product-information/free-sample/

Looks like Sainsbobs offer ends 02/09/2014.

I'm lucky enough to live near a T's that takes APGs so recycled an APG to a PP. ;)

Edited to add, this test was following Aau1's post about their womble!
