Hi LuckyinLife - Yes I have had to chase up a payment before, I think the NT one is the fastest ever to come through - normally it takes about 3 months!

    So I empathise.

I'm not having much luck on tcb. A comfirmed payment disappeared then cameback after opening a claim. Now it has been declined!

Hi Cath - I've never had one declined on tcb - do they give a reason? are you able to appeal or is it just tough luck?

I had my national lottery cashback declined, which really annoyed me as I only did it for the cashback. They claimed not to be operating on TCB anymore, but they're still on there!

Amycool - ooh that is so annoying! Just looked and they are still on there -maybe worth sending an email including that on a screen shot - they might pay you just to get rid of you! ;)

One week down - and what a slow week it's been. Things are starting to pick up so and I feel a bit more in the flow -just difficult after the Christmas break to get back into work mode.

Looking forward to not getting up at 6.30 tomorrow!

Not much planned this weekend, few errands to run and parents are coming for lunch Sunday.

Gas & Electric both had lower direct debits this month saving about £15 which pays for the boiler maintenance I've just signed up for. Am in credit in both but will wait until winter is over to take any money back.

Suspect council tax will increase though now that the government have reduced the cap they had on it.

On Thursday night the outside thermometer broke due, I presume, to it being below 0 overnight. First thought was to just bin it but it was only purchased in the summer. I checked M&S website, they are still selling it and its called a 'garden thermometer' meaning it should be built to survive outdoors!

So I popped over to M&S today to return it. Bit naughty really as naturally I ended up buying a few bits ;) Underwear in the sales and a gift for my mum. Then had to get a few bits from T£sc0 so another £14.

All within budget estimates, my thing this year is to get out more as I was getting hermit like last year. It's all very well spending no money but if that means a weekend where the only activity outside the house is dog walking it gets a little sad.

So I'm training myself that it's ok to spend a few £s at the weekends. On that note I have rather naughtily booked theatre tickets for us at end of the month -lovely to have something to look forward to and as it's local theatre it's not as expensive as London.

Grrr bad day on the food front, need to draw a line under it and start again, usually when I eat too much I try and compensate by eating very little the next day - often resulting in getting hungry by afternoon and then over eating again!

Non money news, month is ticking along, I've just remembered Feb/Mar is council tax/water rates relief so need to decide where to put that money.

Also discussing holidays with DH as left it til June to book last year and it was slim pickings. Want to be more on the ball but we are already disagreeing again (him Italy, me Ireland) and not helped by being limited to driving distance as he dislikes flying. Sometimes I think I'd rather stay home and save the money....

Still reeling with shock at David Bowie's death....

Hi Pushkin, long time no see! Sounds like you had a horrid end to 2015 with work, hope things are a little more settled now. Glad your doggie is better than she was, such a huge part of the family! Your mortgage is moving down nicely, best of luck for this year!
