The Road to Financial Security

DH transferred usual monthly funds over so all back in order on the financial front. Transferred £210 (council tax & water rates that we don't pay this month) to slush fund.
Was a wrench to do as things are quite tight this month - another massivoo credit card bill is the cause (due to the posh coffee machine so all self inflicted and not really on necessities ). However made myself do it.
Fair bit of money juggling to get through this month, especially as I have half term off which will lead to higher spending than if I was working. I know its sad but I quite enjoy it actually.
Annual mortgage statement still not arrived!!! :mad:0 -
Hi Pushkin, I hope those burgers were at least the best burgers you ever tasted.Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%
Overpayments - £48829.37 :j:j:j

Amycool - not really no - chain restaurant, very noisy (old fogey alert), quick turn around which was what we needed before theatre but probably £20 more than I thought we should have paid. Ah well.0

Still no annual mortgage statement  DH can't understand my frustrated desperation, will make him ring up to chase tomorrow - he is off work so has time.
Parents evening tomorrow night - out of the 6 subjects we wanted appointments for DS has managed 3 - one at 6, one at 7 and one at 8.30 - each appt is 5 minutes long so a fair bit of hanging around!
I get the school wants the children to take responsibility for this and make their own appointments but really - DS is telling us the teachers are booked up, possibly he is pulling the wool over our eyes but really. Our one chance in the year to speak to his teachers and we can't see most of them.
Mulling over having a word with the head of year.
No money news - no saving, but no spending either...0 -
Parents evening was the usual chaos, more annoyed by DS right now who is still not putting enough effort in. Managed to speak to 2 of the teachers he hadn't made appointments with so got more feedback than we thought.
Good day money wise. Renewed car breakdown cover - my new car comes with 3 yrs Nissan breakdown so needed to reduce the policy so it just covered DH's car. I had done an internet comparison, wanted to stay with same company (cheapest of the big 3. Anyway when I rang they quoted me £10 less than their internet price - so feel I have won there
Also had some cash back for theatre tickets we bought for DS's birthday treat.
Also had another packet of vouchers from S@insburys so few reduced price shops coming up.
Quiet(ish) weekend coming up although we are thinking of going for a day out at the coast Sunday if the weather is dry - love the beach in the winter.0 -
Slow to get going this morning, didn't start the dog walk until 10. Having a lazy day (thinking it's ok to do once in a while), have had my granny nap and am sat on the sofa binge watching series 1 of Stella. On the plus side no money spent although not exactly a productive or interesting day.
DH rang the mortgage company today to chase up the outstanding annual statement and they told him they had a computer glitch meaning statements they thought had been sent hadn't. They now need to send them out manually and said it would be with us within the next 2 weeks.
Sounds like if we hadn't chased it wouldn't have been sent at alland why does it take 2 weeks?
On a more upbeat note DH got an up to date balance and it's just over £200 less than my spreadsheet is showing:beer: I do wish i had on line visibility so could update monthly but it is a lovely little bonus when the annual statement comes!0 -
Happy weekend Pushkin
At least you know what happened to the mortgage statement... and :T for being lower than you thought

Lovely day today, drove down to Bournemouth, took the dog for a walk along the beach then bought fish and chips which we ate in the fresh air.
DH paid parking costs, I paid for lunch - £25.
So while today was obviously more expensive than yesterday it was a lot more fulfilling, love the beach in the winter and while the wind was brutal it was a fab, sunny day making it all look absolutely stunning.
Got home, did washing & ironing and DS completed his options form which is due in this week .
We are now watching Ski Sunday which is about as close as I like to get to snow :rotfl:0 -
Glad you had a lovely day and that your mortgage is lower than you thought!Mortgage (Start Sep 2014)- £70,295/£0 - 100%

Thanks AmyCool - I am waiting until we get the physical statement through before I update my mortgage - something to look forward to (geek alert!)
Am finding February very hard going money wise - having to use cc to pay for petrol and probably next week's food shop. Also it is half term next week and I have the week off, don't know about anyone else but always a challenge to keep spending down while off work.0
