Fed up with my cat

my kitty is 16 and she loves IAMS but she has developed kidney disease as do most older cats and dried cat food is a massive contributory factor to this, so off the IAMS. Whiskas was ok but they must have changed their ingrediants recently because she would rather starve than eat it and she will starve! So I can't let her do that, she is costing me a small fortune now because she eats 4 small pouches of gourmet a day. It says 6 on the box, but she is not eating THAT much she will be overweight in no time. She loves her food now and so she should its £2 for 6 tiny pouches, instead of 12 pouches of whiskas for £3. But she is lovely, so she is worth it.Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 20160

My cat can be fussy at times, but he gets what he is given and there are no two ways about it. I am in charge of him, not the other way around. The only thin he 'dictate' me about is circle me like a vulture on a carcass when he is feeling hungry.
I brought him Sheba and then he went off that so now he eats tuna. I do make a joke saying that he is a layabout and he should go out and get a job. While he treats the house like a hotel, which is what alot of cats do, if not with their own houses, their neighbours.... he eats what he is given.0 -
In a battle of wills, our current tiger, Raffles has steadfastly, during tests conducted under strict non cooperation, has turned his nose up at whiskas cat food.
It is with regret, that we again have succumbed to his greatness and bought cheaper alternatives. He is eating agin!0 -
He's fussy. Eats only Felix AGAIL. I live in a small town , shops here not always have it and if they do, not on offer, so I buy it on weekly trip to supermarket. Sometimes food runs out and he sulks.
Can't you buy a couple of extra boxes next time it is on special offer so you never run out?
Although once he realises you have extra he'll go off it!I've tried to buy cheaper brand, but he just won't it it, that was a waste. He has access to dry food and water all the time .
The method I have had success with is mixing the two different foods together and gradually weaning them off one and onto the other. It does take patience and is a faff but it is how I managed to get my two off Felix and onto better stuff.0 -
Mines a mouser so will eat out but point blank refuses to eat whiskers. He has felix and high quality dry. Whiskers must taste really bad if mine won't eat itI don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

Thanks for your replies.
My cat eats only Felix AGAIL, sometimes I buy him tuna chunks or Applaws. If I give him anything else, he just won't eat it. I've run out of his food yesterday and as a punishment he walked on me and my DH in the night and woke us both.
He has dry food (Applaws), but rarely eats it. Because is out loads, I use to put a dish outside for him, but he took very little. Recently I've noticed dish was empty, but turned out neighbour's cat's eaten all.0 -

Punishment, seriously? I doubt the cat put that much thought into it!0 -

Raffles has them treat sticks, which are wolfed down in one.
Premier foods such as Felix, he turns his nose up at.0 -

The thing is with cats is that they can go a lot time without food so they can play a waiting game if they want to.
Well so can the owners, I wont put up with it and what I bring .
This advice is so wrong that it is dangerous. Cats MUST eat regularly, they cannot go without as it damages their kidneys.
