well it's definitely not 79xxx or the left hand pointer would be nearer the 8, and not just past the 7.

As long as it is between 7 & 8, it is a 7 AFAIK.

wrong, look at the 1000's dial, the pointer has not passed the zero, and if it was 79xxx, the 10,000 pointer would be nearer the 8.

I now think the pointers are slightly out.

The first dial is nowhere near the 8, which it would be if the second dial is on 9. So I also think the first dial has not passed 7 so will count as 6, so rethink it is 69878.

you're nearly right, I'll stick to 69877, as the single unit dial has not passed the 8.
