I wouldn't panic yet - within the week you will be reading the dial as 70,000 something. Probably.
  • Hi,

it's tricky when pointer is on a number,

    2Q==Electricity%20Meter%203.jpg

this one reads, 60169, some folks would read it as 60279.
  • good pic....right.....trying to word this lol....my thinking on this is going by the pic above but with my readings which is the dreaded meter i have, that my first dial is "slightly" passed 7 which is ok but.....a big but.....the second dial the pointer on the one the pic above is the same space away from zero but on the other side...which leads me to think if its so close to the zero (which is classed as 9) , how come the first dial is "just" passed 7 when it should be nearer the 8 by a long shot. So, when the second dial reaches 0 shouldn't the first click to 8? my head hurts......lol
  • Hi,

these dials are driven by interconnecting cogs, a wee bit of wear can make a difference.

Note also that the dials run clockwise/anticlockwise.

You say last time meter was read was in Jan, was that by meter reader or do you provide regular readings?

A picture would be really handy, if you are allowed, or a link.

Edit: to post a pic you would need to upload it to tinypic or photobucket, etc, then copy and paste link using the wee postcard icon, with a link you would use the world link icon.

If you're not allowed then type link and hopefully myself or someone will put up the picture for you.

Sorry for the delay, just done a bit tidying before i'm off for the 2-10pm shift. Hope this helps. The meter view outside facing quite low down. the best thing is that its directly under my sink unit....same as my Mother in laws 8 houses down lol. The last reading was in January by themselves....i've always avoided it because i've never understood it. will try to now i would think.

I put some underscores in and left the http:// out of the start of the link

Thank you very much for all of your help.

Had to take that into Photoshop!

    Left to right

    Dial 1 - Between 7 & 8
    Dial 2 - Between 0 & 9
    Dial 3 - Between 8 & 9
    Dial 4 - Between 7 & 8
    Dial 5 - Between 7 & 8

I make it 79877 but these meters are such a pain that I am probably wrong! :D
