    Agree, give Hotpoint a miss.
As your washer will not last as long as your kitchen I would be looking for a more permanent solution tbh, you'll be in this position every few years otherwise.

Oh, that's what that little plastic drawer thing is for!
I just use the caplet of liquid straight into the machine.
I can't stand fabric conditioner; towels get a run in the tumble dryer to soften them.

Our soap drawer is on the left but it doesn't pull out like a drawer. It pivots out like opening a car door. In terms of your kitchen design, this type of one might help? It wouldn't matter if you couldn't quite open ours all the way - you'd still be able to get the powder in.

We had this machine up against a side wall at our old house and had no problem with the drawer.

Ironically, ours is a Hotpoint and has been going strong for five years so far. There's only two of us though so we only do 3-4 loads a week.

You still have to clean the things occasionally.

I think I've cleaned a drawer once in about 20 years! My BIL and SIL have a completely minging drawer (and the machine stinks because they never leave the door open). I'm sure mould grows and feeds on the fabric conditioner. I never use it and have never had a grubby drawer!

Indesit used to make the "moon" - this had the dispenser mounted on the inside of the drawer. Not available any more, but maybe there is something else similar...

    Hi BlondeHeadOn

We have a V-ZUG washing machine and that has the soap drawer on the right.

V-ZUG is made in Switzerland, all their machines have the soap drawers on the right. They are amazing machines but this does make them pretty much the most expensive domestic washing machines on the market.

Have a look on their website and let me know if you would like any further help with them.

Wow, they look fantastic - but very expensive! It would almost be cheaper to get a new kitchen!

I like the look of them a lot though...

Well, I kind of hope that the current trend for the 'soap drawer to only be on the left' will run its course and there might be some other options out there in a few years time!

It seems daft to me that they are all so similar, and I will always find the left hand soap drawer awkward to use as I am disabled and my left hand doesn't work properly. So I would prefer the soap drawer to be positioned somewhere else, whatever the kitchen design.

Lots of thoughts here, thank you guys - I shall have to weigh up my (somewhat limited) options ...

My parents have a similar sort of design washing machine to what pinkteapot describes and I cleaned it at the weekend when I was there. It's not too difficult to remove the drawer even without opening it fully.

As someone else has already mentioned, your simplest (and cheapest) solution is to get a smaller depth machine.

There are plenty of option. I have a cheap 7Kg Zanussi that washes just fine :)

Go to the Curry's and measure one to see if it fits
