It's not compulsory to use P&C spaces.
Park somewhere less busy would be a better option. Then I can park my van closer to the store AND give me the space to get large equipment out without smacking the Chelsea tractor next to me.

have you quoted the wrong person?

    Okay,I'll nibble.
cars have grown larger and the parking spaces narrower to provide more spaces in car parks.
I'm not fussed by P&C spaces. I do like a little context on comparing 30 years ago with now though.

    1980 5 series width 1,690 mm (66.5 in)
    2010 5 series width 1,846 mm (72.7 in

    OK I will strike! :p

    Jaguar Sovereign 79 in 2000mm
    BMW 735 71 in 1800mm
    Mercedes 350 S 74.8 in 1899mm

I did mention large! I do agree however the average car has increased in size, and it could well be difficult, and P&C bays are a good idea, but as others have said there is no need for them to be close to the doors.

If in my era I thought it may be difficult I parked on the end of a row or away from the doors in a quieter part of the car park. If I couldn't I never had problems getting my child out of her seat and out of the car.

Have more trouble getting her out of my car now, she has her own but she has to feed that one I feed mine!:)

Indeed, my son owns a garage built in 1965, you cannot park a Focus in it.

I think you should still write to the top banana at Lidl. They need to know that they have lost your custom, and why.
I have sent an email to "Herr Shultz" the CEO of Lidl with an accompanying letter.

    Dear Herr Gottschlich,

I am attaching for your information my latest letter to your Regional Management in S.Wales,in respect of the shocking treatment the keeper of Jaguar reg.number xxxxxx has received from your parking contractor Euro Car Parks at your Chepstow store.I feel you should be made aware of this evolving situation.

As you may also be aware, both "Money Saving Expert" and "The MailOnLine" are running national campaigns against cowboy parking operators, the like of which you have deployed at Chepstow.

You have it within your power to remove this unjust penalty received by a long term loyal customer of your company - one who has probably spent in excess of £100,000 in your store.

Should you decide not to,then the legalities will take their natural course, and you will receive National maximum adverse publicity for your Brand.

    Yours Faithfully,

You need to redact your reg number PDQ so you can't be identified.

Definitely take your number plate off this forum. Those kindly PPCs have a habit of trawling the forum for people who "out themselves" as drivers.
Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.
