At what age did you stop getting asked for ID?

If you ignore that stupid incident in Sainsburys with the alcohol free beer and self service checkout, I've not been ID'd since turning 25. But I haven't really bought any age restricted products.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I'm 26 and I definitely think I look it. The lady said oh right I thought you were 16?? I said thanks for the compliment but 16 really?? Think she forgot her glasses!!
I haven't yet and I'm 28 in October, have been ID'd for lotto tickets, booze and spray paint!!... I still get asked if my parents are home by door to door callers, despite living with my Husband lol:rotfl:0 -
I think that some people look fairly young for their age, but never, and I mean never more than a decade younger. In fact, rarely does anybody look more than 5 to 7 years younger than they are. Maybe at first glance, but not when you look close.
My wife's hairdresser looked 25-28 from a distance through the window, but close up in the salon, her face looked 43-44. Turned out she is actually 39!
There are certain things that give it away. You can't hide your age, no matter how much make-up or fake tan or hair dye or 'youthful' clothes you wear. You can look 12-15 years younger from a distance, but close up, you will look much closer to your age.
I have spoken to many a person (usually female,) who say that loads of people think they look 15 years younger, and they're always being mistaken for their son or daughter's sister, or their husband's daughter etc etc. Every person who has said something like this to me, looks their age.
Most people look their age to be honest. I think there's a bit of wishful thinking/ fantasising/ daydreaming going on with some people.Either that, or the people saying they look 15+ years younger, have poor eyesight.
You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I've always looked older than my age as I've always been tall for my age. I'm 5'6 and I had my growth spurt at about 10 or 11 so consequently have always looked older. I did have a quite funny experience once in Asda by my Mum's- I was wearing my new wig for the first time, it was Christmas and I was trying to buy a bottle of wine. I got ID'd and I said 'seriously?' To which she said yes- and I said ok, is it the hair as I've never been ID'd before to which she did reluctantly agree yes my hairstyle did make me look younger. Her face was a picture when I whipped the wig off (I was virtually bald on top so it did look a bit strange) and said 'right does this make me look any older?' It didn't work though
last time before that was about 6 years ago at Christmas when I was buying my Dad's Xmas pressie. I don't carry ID usually as I don't drive so if I got asked I would be stuffed really..

Well I've always looked 5-10 years older than I really am, so you can trust me that this is not coming from wishful thinking on my part! I do know a couple of people who look genuinely much younger than their actual age. The one where it's most dramatic is in her mid thirties but could pass for a teenager with absolutely no trouble. Not even an older teenager either, 13 or 14. She's actually not over the moon about it and would prefer to look more mature and 'womanly'.
I suppose you don't have to believe people about this, but that doesn't stop it being true.0 -
When I was of an age to be mistaken for somebody under age, asking for ID wasn't common practice.
However, up until my early 30's, I'd answer the door to salesmen who asked if my mum was in, and sometimes I'd go by train and realise I'd been given a child's ticket.
Up to my late 40's, on occasion people would think I was still in my 30's.
I never did anything to look younger, it was just the way I was, but my parents looked younger than their years for a long time.
In my mid 50's, I think I'm looking my age... You can't hold back the years for ever!Early retired - 18th December 2014

A girl I worked with always looked about 20 years older than she was, a combination of her features, her hair style and her clothes.
She's the same age as me, mid 50's, so she should be growing into her looks by now, but don't know any other people my age with tightly permed/set hair, and who wears twinsets and pleated skirts. She still manages to look 20 years older than she isEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I'm 27 and still get asked for ID! I even got asked when buying a 15 rated film! I said "really? I'm 27 you know!" - check out lady smirked at me disbelievingly and when I showed my driving license her face was a picture! I don't kind being asked but I always seem to get rude know it all people who act like they've caught me out.0

Well I don't wear twinsets and a perm! It is genetics, I have good skin, I've never smoked and always protected myself from the sun, but my dad's always looked old for his age too, and I take after him. When I was 15 and on a school trip I was mistaken for a teacher. :eek:0 -
I'm 28 and still get asked for ID, apparently I look far younger than my age. Even my new dentist didn't believe how old I was :rotfl:0
