That includes me, just! I've hardly ever been asked for ID though, only really in the US where they seem to ask everybody. I think I've always looked old for my age which was great at 15 but is less great now!

It did used to bug me when using a self-checkout when the staff member would just glance at me and then press 'customer is obviously over 25', especially when I was only 26 or 27!

If it is any consultation spec savers at aged 42 it has been 4 - 5 years since I have been asked for ID, even when dressed up to the nines I get a cursory glance then a swipe to confirm ...yep you are old ....

The last three have you any ID have been firmly in the... should have gone to spec savers category....

Still made me feel :D:D though x

I get asked all the time, I am 33. I am told I look young though. One of my eldests friends thought I was his sister :rotfl:

Then when having a wax the other day the beautician and me were making small talk. You know kids and stuff.

She was really taken aback and thought I was a "nipper" getting sorted for my girls holiday. Not a mother of x children. She said my skin was very youthful. I left with a huge head...

Its genetics though. I remember at my eldest sons age now and going down the road with my Dad. He didn't look old enough to be my dad, but a bit too old to be a friend. People used to stare at us and try and work it out.

No we were not teen parents before anyone asks.

Ive been asked for ID in my 40s, more than once. Never had any real problems buying alcohol in my 20s and I was 37 or 38 when I was asked, then I had a gap of a few years where I wasnt asked at all and last year I was asked on about 4 or 5 occasions. I wouldnt kid myself on for a minute that I look 25, but some people in their 40s could pass for 27 or 28. I know people who look much older than their age, I know people who look much younger, if someone does have a young looking face and the cashier isnt sure, then thats when they clearly need to ask.

Id have preferred not to have been asked, because Im not a driver and dont carry my passport around with me, oddly enough Ive only had problems in supermarkets, not pubs, last time I was asked for ID in a pub I think I was 19.

I rarely drink these days so doesn't affect me now anyway. Some supermarkets ID you for zero percent beer, something I find a bit odd, Morrisons dont.

On the flip side, I know one girl who looked 25 when she was 13, so cashiers do need to err on the side of caution.
  • Once you are fully grown you don't change until you start to age. I looked the same at 26 as I did at 18, so did my friends

To be fair, I don't think the reason why those in their 30s/40s are asked for their ID is so much because they look young, but because there are many youngster who do look so much older then they are. I suppose you could be 17 and look 30 or be 35 and look 25, so it is very much a case of better safe than sorry considering these staff can be disciplined and even sacked for selling alcohol to an under age.

I can't imagine anyone in their 30s, and especially their 40s, looks under 18! If someone is asking someone in their 40s, for I.D, because they think they may be under 18; I would think they must be on crack.

Like some people on here, I have never been asked for I.D. I have always looked a bit younger than I am, and at 40, a man was surprised when I said it was my 40th soon, because he thought I was 33/34. He most definitely didn't think I was 16 though! :D

I'm 33. My sons friend though I was arriving to join them in scouts....which is worrying lol.

That said my Dad when in his 40's passed for a 20 something. Strangers wouldn't believe he was my Dad.

Even now people say he doesn't seem to age. I think it's possible to look a lot younger. It's genetics though. Face cream or lifestyle has minimal impact ime.

I'm another one who has never been asked for ID due to being the age when it wasn't so much an issue. I do look younger than my age though by several years and am sometimes taken for being the daughter of my husband.

Yes it's possible to look younger of course, but really no more than 8-9 years younger. Anyone who mistakes someone of mid 40s for mid 20s, should have gone to specsavers. Nobody looks that much younger. ;)

I think even if someone has an outer appearance of looking young, you can see it in the eyes and their neck and the jowel area that they're not. And often (with women especially,) in the arms.

Even now at 50, I look a bit younger, but most people guess me at 45-47 y.o.
