So sad to hear your news CCL. Baby loss is awful and I truly hope you get the family you want soon. I've lost one in three of my pregnancies (I make rubbish placentas) so feel gutted for you :( every baby that might have been is still missed even years later, so don't feel that you should 'get over it'. Grieve for as long as you need and in whatever form keeps your sanity (I painted five angry coats of paint on my bedroom after one loss... But I left the ceiling for dh!).

Focusing on controlling debt may well keep your mind occupied until medicine gives you solutions. You're certainly making great progress toward moving your debt free day forward.

    Take care x

Thanks Nintud :) Funny you should say about painting, I spent last week painting my DSS bedroom and it really helped give me time to think but keep busy at the same time. My DH painted the fence and it helped him too. Have just got to keep hoping that it will happen for us one day. Appreciate your kind words :)

Have just read your diary CCL - am so sorry for your loss. I had a miscarriage very early too, between DD and DS. They called it a missed abortion as I went o my 12 week scan (taking my excited then 4.5yr old DS with us) only to be told there baby had died but not miscarried. You never really forget, but I console myself with the fact that my DS would not be here if that I had had that baby. Take care of yourself, and stay positive - it will happen for you.

  • Thank you everyone for such kind words, appreciate the thoughts and am genuinely grateful for them :) Just trying to get back to 'normal' although not quite sure what that is now!

    In debt busting good news.....

I have started car sharing with a girl who lives close to me and has started working where I work. We realised we lived close and she suggested car sharing really quickly so we are doing that :money: Can't do it every day as we work different shifts but I have been told by my manager to work/change our shifts to the same if we can to save us pennies :D Good guy (he is very good with money!) Will save a little hopefully as I spend approx £150 every 4 weeks on diesel, 40 min commute. Work mate is over £200!!! Will help us both :)

DH is selling his iPhone5 and is happy for money to go towards debt :D

Got a letter from bank about old mortgage DH had with his ex, potentially he is due premiums back. Just need to send proof although this is harder than it seems as he doesn't have anything they are accepting with address! Shall fix this though :)

I'm going to music magpie some clothes I don't think will sell on eBay, won't make much but better than them sitting in a drawer wishing to be worn by a size 8/10 me :rotfl: They are actually too 'young' for me now, didn't like that realisation :rotfl::o

    In debt busting bad news...

Bought tickets today to Kevin Bridges, love him so will need to find money from somewhere to pay for them. Is my birthday soon so shall probably use money my dad always gives me for them. Either that or take out our spending money for the month. Either way they won't be staying on the credit card!!! Suppose it's not really bad news but isn't very MSE :money:

Diet is a bit of a disaster just now but will focus on that next week whilst we are on holiday. Will do some batch cooking and planning then.

Hope any readers are doing well, this diary is making me feel accountable although I am bad for lurking on others diaries and not posting so making an effort to post now :)

Looking very positive there. It can't all be about debt busting or, like dieting, we'd have a mad binge every few weeks and put it all back on again.

Today was a cream cake day for me. Tomorrow will be fruit :)

  • Hi, Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. Bad times about the miscarriage…sorry about that. As for weight loss? Then as with YNABs philosophy you gotta 'roll with the punches'. It's understandable that the diet has hit a bump after such bad news. However if you can face it why not start running. As you can see by my name it's what I do and has helped me lose 4 inches around my middle aged waist!

I was a late starter and 2 years ago ran my first half marathon. Before I was only jogging for 15 minutes max at the gym. And now you've saved £80 odd on membership let me tell you after a run the endorphins make you feel even better knowing that hasn't cost you anything.

You can get by on a cheap kit/trainers to start with - just remember to layer up for the winter - and away you go. Best part is even if you've never run before there are programmes to follow to get you running such as the 'couch to 5K' which basically is at the start a run / walk / run / walk to a full 5 Km run after 10 weeks.

Good luck and let us know if you decide to go ahead with it.
  • Hi NOA All is well thank you :) Hope you are also well, shall pop over to your diary soon....

Hi runforlife thanks for popping by! One of the reasons I quit the gym (apart from not using it ) was because I was thinking about starting running. I ran a 5k about 5 years ago in under 30 mins and was SOOO proud! This was at the time I lost loads of weight, bought loads of clothes and met my now husband! Was feeling so good about myself.

I really want to get back into it. Still have my trainers, about 8 years old with a wee layer of dust on them but they are in great condition so I have what I need. It's the actual starting it that is what I need to do!!! When I first started running, I was so unfit but once I got into it, I found that I loved it. The feeling of being back from a run, roasting hot but it's cold outside is the best feeling ever! I have downloaded the couch to 5k app and you have inspired me to actually start it- thank you :T

In debt busting news today I have put 11 items on Gumtree. In the space of an hour, I have had 2 enquiries about 1 item, 2 sales (subject to turning up for collection!) and someone coming round tomorrow about another item?! Amazing!!! If these 4 items sell then I will have £170 :D Just hoping the couches sell as they are the biggies- £150. DH wants them to go to the PS4 fund, I told him there is no such fund?!?! Spurred on by this success, he is going to send his old iPhone away today so hopefully get £150 for that :D Today is a good :money: day!

Yesterday I switched our energy supplier too :) £30 cashback for switching plus lower bills! Not a hard decision :) We just paid our quarterly bill and I was expecting it to be lower than the last one as we haven't had heating on but it was actually the same?! We have used more electricity which I can't understand. Have moved to Eon as they were the cheapest. Found in the garage today our old gadget that shows how much electricity you are using at one time so will have that for when we change. Hopefully we can make some savings on the amount of electricity we use by seeing it in front of us!!!

We also went to the bank yesterday with DH's claim for mortgage premium letter that he was sent. All sent away now and hopefully get some good news from that.

Bought some Christmas presents yesterday, all budgeted for. Got some great sale stocking fillers for DSS which I'm really pleased about :) Watching a few eBay items too.

All in all, a good few days! Need to keep up this momentum so get rid of this pesky debt! I know we don't have a huge amount of debt however we have both been massively in debt before, mine paid by mortgages (twice ) and DH's been in a trust deed so we both know that a little debt soon turns into a lotta debt :( After we have got rid of this, we will NOT be getting into the same situation again. We have made some good changes to how we spend money and are budgeting so hopefully this is the final run!

Oops, big post :o Thanks for reading this far :rotfl:
