I own an Alienware alx r4 its worth around £2500 its 7 months old it has developed a fault and needs a repair now well this but is astoundingly ridiculous,
I am expected to supply a workbench/table so that the service technician can complete the repair, there is plenty of room for someone to work, I understand that kneeling down is uncomfortable and he/she would require a table but I should not be supplying tools or equipment to assist in the repair of my pc this is down to the service provider not the customer.
I do not own a table I have no use for one and even if I did it would not be used to facilitate a service call it would be used as a table .
I wish to know why Alienware - dell think that is acceptable that customers need to supply a workbench or any tools so that a service call can be completed. you do not supply you desk at work do you? you don't turn up to a garage and the mechanic asks you for a jack or ramps no they supply theses things because it tools they need and require to complete the various tasks they undertake.
Alienware - dell have let me down very badly in the past on numerous occasions im getting towards the end now .
so having spoke to alienware shamport again for the 3rd time i was disconnected this is extremely unprofessional the second time i was constantly told that it was a issue of environment and that I must supply a suitable environment for the service tech to do his work??? do I need to mention the liability mine field that would occur if the table I supplied failed and dammed the pc or injured the tech. there is no reason that they cannot attend i feel im being treated unjustly in this matter as a customer and a person i have every right to complain about this.
this should no be an issue whatsoever its shambolic even the customer service rep (paul rehorcik) refused to help he said the engineer who hasn't been here yet reported that its to small well that's utter rubbish not to mention a lie my home has ample space to work in theses are the reasons i believe why this is such an issue.
1. this would be the same service provider UNISYS that repeatedly brought faulty or defective parts and fitted parts badly with out the proper knowledge of the pc they were working on (one technician i had to show how to remove a graphics card??) or the correct manuals or training so i feel im being persecuted because of my role in reporting their errors; again this is abhorrent behaviour and very much illegal.
2. that nowhere in my terms and conditions when i purchased the product does it state that i have to provide tools or equipment so that any future repairs can be carried out by a service technician.
3. that a service provider does not supply its technicians with all the tools and equipment that is required to complete any task set it by dell well frankly is laughable.
I really need help with this
thanks for reading
I highlighted the bit in bold. You really surely can't be serious ? It's frankly a ridiculous accusation to make.
Do you really expect an on-call service technician to do his job effectively in your house if he has to sit on the floor to do so ?
Are there no tables or flat surfaces anywhere in your house that can be used ?
Do you seriously expect Dell to provide each of their service technicians with a portable table ?
"do I need to mention the liability mine field that would occur if the table I supplied failed and dammed the pc or injured the tech." No - that would be ridiculous.0 -
Not sure why the technician needs a table to work. What is wrong with sitting on the floor and working off the floor?
Could you outline the reasons they give for him needing a table? Can't they just send a replacement part?
You could also ask for them to come and collect it and repair it that way.0 -
This surely is a wind up, nobody could be this daft.0
-
Send the thing back to them then, and let them use their own workbench, if you so wish.0

im amazed that you think that supplying equipment to any company to facilitate their work in your home is acceptable,
so if you go to a restaurant order food wait a while the waiter returns asking where your plates and cutlery? what would you say?
And yes company's are petty especially bad ones they will use any excuse to dodge their poor performance,
And yes there are many flat surfaces in my home plus this particular pc weighs over 15kg they aint small ,
no I don't own a table I live I a flat plus im prone to falls so we have few large objects in the home so there is room for me.
and if you don't know what your talking about I suggest you don't comment.0 -
their reason is that I have to supply a safe environment so they can work which is fine they have been here many times not an issue before.
but they seem to think that environment means equipment ,
im still astounded that they even asked for this0 -
the last time I sent it to them for repair it came back 4 weeks later dented scratched covered in some kind of grease and not even repaired dell had to replace the entire unit again,
I wouldn't send a potato to be peeled by them0 -

So if you order a takeaway, you would expect them to provide you with cutlery? One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Well, only 5 posts and you've already resorted to insults because people responding don't agree with you.
Why bother posting if you only wanted people to agree with you?0
