dell refusing to fix pc

again they will not actuate a repair because I don't own a table for a tech to work on, that is ridiculous a table they want me to supply is now equipment for their use not mine,Again, what are these tools and equipment you keep harping on about!
If you want the job to be done correctly then supply an environment where this can be done.
what if you own a very expensive table and you let them use it for their work it gets damaged who pays for the repair , its no longer a table you own but a workspace that you have provided that you are liable for .
A customer should not have to provide anything unless it was agreed when you purchased the warranty I agreed to no such terms nowhere in dells terms and conditions does it state anything about environment tables tools for techs so why say that's the reason we cant fix a pc at your home as per contract.

A thick blanket will pretty much protect any table. But as you're being so intransigent, hopefully you will be enjoying looking at the large £2500 doorstop you currently have.0 -
OP, you have two choices...
1) supply a table,
2) do not supply a table.
It doesn't take too much effort to work out the consequences of either, does it?0 -
Then send it back to them as wealdroam correctly said back in post #5
As this is a warranty issue, then you are bound by what the warranty says. And I would bet real money on it saying something along the lines of "If a home repair is not feasible FOR WHATEVER REASON, then the machine will be repaired at Dell's offices" or words to that effect.
Just because you don't agree with their reason, it doesn't invalidate the warranty. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
And probably the visiting technician will have something to protect the table with him.A thick blanket will pretty much protect any table. But as you're being so intransigent, hopefully you will be enjoying looking at the large £2500 doorstop you currently have.
But of course the OP might want to check that out too.

If you want to be this intractable and cut your nose off to spite your face then you better accept that you now have a lovely Dell doorstop. If you want it repaired then accept the minor hassle of borrowing a table or return it to Dell for repair. Things happen which aren't our fault and often leads to mild inconvenience in order to reach a resolution. I've got to waste tomorrow morning cleaning a courtesy car before returning it to the dealership and collecting mine from them. I certainly didn't ask for a lorry to reverse into me, but I'm not going to bleat that I shouldn't be inconvenienced one iota, in fact I have praised my dealership for making it as pain free as they have.0

Perhaps a kitchen or dining room table would do, or failing that even your bed.
I've serviced many of my PC, by unplugging them, taking them away from their permanent location and upgraded, fixed faults, on such surfaces, because my desk is to cluttered to making working on it suitable.0 -
OP, what do you use the laptop on when you use it?
No flat surface at all you could clear (tv stand, kitchen worktops etc?).
Tbh I find it hard to believe that any house would have no flat surfaces available at all under any circumstance. As above, theres always kitchen worktops - wouldn't be the end of the world to move your kettle/microwave for an hour or two, would it?
If your answer to that is yes, then i'm sorry but imo you're not just coming across as unreasonable, you are deliberately being awkward just for the sake of it.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
It's not a laptop

Is it a laptop? Err no? It's very clearly not.0
