goods not recieved is your best bet0

Really? Im very concerned this will be the worst option as the scammer already refunded me on the first transaction! So he may turn around and say that I was refunded, or that he posted the item?
I was going to use the fake refund emails as proof that I did not receive a refund as the scammer has this in writing and I can prove that he told me he has attempted the refund (even though he hasn't)0 -

Irrelevant if he posted or not, you havent received, and if he cant prove you have recieved then it cant be disputed.
Im a little bit lost have you sent him 3 payments in total and been refunded 1?0 -
Yes i have. First payment was refunded from him in full to take the sale outside of ebay. This was part of the scam.0

Then forget about that, you have paid him money and not recieved the goods, I think you will be ok with the paypal claim0

Ok well both cases are open. Also, I called Barclaycard again. FINALLY, they have raised a chargeback, BUT its against paypal. So paypal will decide if they want to accept or refuse this. If im honest, Im expecting the worst to happen. I am guessing paypal will just refer to their terms and conditions and refuse the chargeback as I have breached the buyer protection rules that state split payments are not allowed.
Whatever the outcome, I will update this thread to help buyers in the future who are in my position, and suffering from a high amount of cash scam.0 -
Why on earth didn't alarm bells ring when the "seller" requested a split payment?jimmyrambo wrote: »I am guessing paypal will just refer to their terms and conditions and refuse the chargeback as I have breached the buyer protection rules that state split payments are not allowed.
I ask this not to judge you, but to ascertain exactly how the apparent scammer was able to convince you that this was a legitimate request?0 -
I didnt think it was up to the company to accept or refuse a chargeback, Otherwise why would any of them ever acept?0

I don't honestly know why I accepted to pay 2 payments. I guess I was extremely impatient and I needed the laptop within the week. I will never forgive myself for that. I feel so stupid.
Well I believe the CC company can only do a chargeback to paypal, who then try and access the scammers account.0 -

Must be some "bargain" if you were prepared to pay £1000 for this laptop! How much is it usually?0
