If your below a certain age and haven't already had children getting a vasectomy on the NHS is virtually impossible. You can get it done privately for about £400 though.
I'm considering it myself at the moment. Of course it's only an option if you never want children though.
I want to get sterilised too but the GP and nurse at my surgery state that I am too young (31) and because I have never had children before. It is like they think I do not know my own body and what I want out of life.
They say female sterilisation is too intrusive, but they would prefer to perform a vasectomy on a man, however, my partner enquired about it and they said he is too young also (same age as me).

I can't speak from a female perspective but its worth looking into a private vasectomy for £400. After all it's a lot cheaper than an unwanted pregnancy.
I'm only 28 but I don't really think age comes into it, If you haven't had children they'll always be reluctant to go through with it.0 -

My friend had a vasectomy, no kids, was in his thirties - and he had no problem on the NHS.0
