How much RAM is installed to the HP?
I think that you should attempt to back up any important data that you wish to keep and to run a clean install of the Operating System.
It does appear to have a particularly bad reputation. Likely a problem with the nVidia GPU. They should have refunded or exchanged the machine a long time ago.
Yes it's a big heavy monster. I want one to use in cafes etc.
I bought it refurbished and it was ok ish for about 4 years. I can't back up anything as it doesnt switch on. ?!0 -

You but there is a difference between a 17" from then and a 15.6" from now.
Yours weighs 3.54kgs.
The Medion Akoya 6234 weighs 2.65kgs
The Medion Akoya 6237 with the i3 processor 2.4kgs
The 11.6" ACER is little more than a Netbook. No optical drive, HDMI output nor Ethernet. it weighs 1.38kg
These cheap small machines are not great. You should probably disable most of the useless software that comes with them, in order to get decent performance.
With the Lenovo, it will be the luck of the draw. You might get a good one or you might get a lemon.
The screen size is more sensible, but you lose the Touchscreen. 1.8kgs.0 -
Ok. Not sure how much RAM mine has.
Just thought anything would be better than the one I have.0 -
I will have a look in Currys today. It may be better for me to go for 15" for home and then later get a tablet for outside. Think i'm trying to cover everything with one. I might even end up with a desktop to replace laptop. Thanks for advice..didn't really think size mattered..so to speak.0

Look, but don't touch!0 -
I won't have the money for a few days anyway now. Using the library computers today which are fine and there are several available. Rather than rush and spend money I don't have.
I just bought new glasses as I needed a new prescription, so going to be an expensive month..
Actually sitting at a desktop PC is quite nice. The library is quiet.0 -

How about something like this? To be honest I am not fussy about brand and all that jazz any more. I just need a value for money pc that will work at a good speed. ?:A0 -
Just to clarify, as I am sending mixed messages. I have decided today that I would like a desktop pc as I think I will get more value for money, to cover my immediate needs.
I can then get a good tablet for use outside etc. Thanks. :j0 -

I bought something very similar form ebay last week for £140, just wanted a basic machine (on Windows 7). I paid a bit more for a 1TB hard drive.
It's good enough for me......0
