wow, I liked reading this from start to finish, what amazing work you have done...

can i ask you some questions if you dont mind?

how do you overpay your mortgage? do you see the account online and transfer into that account?

what do you do, each payment you get from your surveys, eg the £3 payments and £5.02 payments, do you transfer them instantly or just wait until you get a good round figure?

    thanks!

Hope life calms down for you soon, BW!

obay, can't speak for BW but for us, we got the mortgage account/sort code from the bank and make Faster Payments to that account. No option (with F!rst Dir3ct) to view the mortgage online (as it's repayment and not offset) but they offer text alerts for transactions so that generally comes through the next day.

Personally I OP every small amount because I like many small wins over one bigger payment. I have unlimited OPs on my mortgage, though, so that helps. I know a lot of banks restrict the amount you can OP in a year and/or the minimum amount you can make as an OP.

Hi Obay - thanks for posting. Well done on reading all my ramblings - hope it wasn't too dull for you.

    In answer to your questions:

    - I make my OP's online via online banking. I am lucky that my current mortgage can be viewed online and actually updates instantly - which is really satisfying! I do have a 10% limit for the year but I never get anywhere close to that so it's ok for me

    - Yes I make lots of OP's as/when they get to me. So anytime I get a survey payment or some unexpected money. No amount is too small!

Feel feel to pop in anytime you fancy :)
Hope life calms down for you soon, BW!

Thanks Hidden :) Me too!! I think it just seems worse at the moment because both home and work life are busy so there is little 'time to catch up with myself'

Good evening. I managed to get out of work at a reasonable time today and so as promised, here is a bit of an update:

August Figures - mortgage balance as at 1st was £76,537.82 / LTV now 66.55% / daily interest £3.88

Since then have managed 2 small OP's from cashback and T$B interest - total £13.22

    Survey news
    • still waiting for OneP money
    • £35 of Am@zon vouchers received from survey payments
    • all others just ticking along

    So what else has happened:

    - managed to book hotel for London next year. :T Managed to find a great deal on a hotel that is due to open at the end of this year. So plenty of time before I need to stay

    - I completed a mystery shop for my bank for £50. I had to go through with a loan application. Quite scary how fast a lot of money can be given to you without too much effort  Bank balance looks very healthly - just a shame I can't keep it :p It was useful to know I would get the best interest rate (as a good credit record) should I ever need one for real. Will pay in cheque tomorrow and dutifully op once cleared

    - I may just have booked a holiday :o In no way MSE... but will definitely be good for my mental wellbeing. Absolutely HAVE to get spending back in line after that... promise!

    - I realised that my 2 year diary anniversary was last week. can't believe where the time has gone.

Well done on your survey cashouts BW and don't be too hard on yourself for having a bit of a spend (says the person whose money is trickling through her fingers right now! :o). Maybe you could get some quotes for hotel prices and run them past your friend, pointing out what a fab saving you'll be making by ordering them now? Did you manage to get under the £77 mark? I love breaking through the next 1k barrier. :)

I hope the weather is being kind to you and today hasn't been too hectic at work.

Thanks for popping in MG - Things are hectic but the one good thing is it makes the time go fast!

Yes I did get below the £77K mark :D you can see the details above

I forgot to add earlier that my last mortgage wasn't available online when I first had it. I used a spreadsheet to keep track instead. It was only a simple one but did the trick

Very nice. :) Our LTV figure is similar but loan value/daily interest are much higher for us!
    - I completed a mystery shop for my bank for £50. I had to go through with a loan application. Nice! It is scary how quickly they'll hand out money.

Ooh, where to? Need to live vicariously. ;)
