Feeling  with myself tonight. Just received my new cc statement and there was an interest charge showing on it - only a small one but I was still  I called the cc company and they told me it was because I purchased some foreign currency on the card earlier in the month. Even though it was an online order, they still classify it as a cash transaction. I wasn't aware and have paid interest for the time since the transaction. I'm so peeved for not realising that and paying unnecessary interest. Hoping it doesn't affect my credit record in any way as I always pay on time and don't incur charges, etc0

I had this recently - towards the end of the month I took out £10 in cash to get my hair cut as I was just a few quid short. Paid the money the next day as it was a payday, but still got charged 1p interest which I then had to make a penny payment for. It's the first interest I've accrued on a credit card in about 15+ years. Felt bad, but really, a penny!Baby Step 1 - £1k Emergency Fund - COMPLETE
Baby Step 2 - Pay off all debts except the Mortgage - £9,326 to go
Baby Step 3 - Save 6 months of expenses into full Emergency Fund - £4,300 to go
Baby Step 4 - Put 15% into Pension
Baby Step 6 - Pay off the Mortgage early
Baby Step 7 - Live like no-one else0 -

If you pay on time your credit will be fine.
Annoying that they classified buying currency as a cash advance! I suppose it kind of makes sense (they're technically lending you cash), but it would be nice if they were explicit about things.0 -

Thanks RT - first time in a long time I've paid interest too. Know not to do it again!hiddenshadow wrote: »If you pay on time your credit will be fine.
Thanks Hidden - good to know that.hiddenshadow wrote: »Annoying that they classified buying currency as a cash advance! I suppose it kind of makes sense (they're technically lending you cash), but it would be nice if they were explicit about things.
Yes indeed. It's a card that is fee free on a foreign transactions too so I thought it would be ok. Lesson learned0 -
In contrast to last night's *hiccup* - I've woken to the news that I won a £10 voucher in the RM survey draw :T
Also made a £10 OP with the leftovers of wages from the previous month. I did have more than that in the end (turned out to be a slightly more frugal month than expected on the cashfront) but I've allocated that to savings for some of the cc spending that I know is due when I get back from hols.0 -
:T Well done on the £10 voucher win, which you then o/p from your cash left overs. Good going :TAlways have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190
